kitty, you must need your sleep. Last night was the first for a while when I haven't woken up coughing. I might have slept till 10 if DS2 hadn't phoned from a train on the way to Gatwick from where he is flying to Sardinia on a cycling break! Nice for some!
panache, your resilience must be sorely tried at present. Have you been in touch with MacMillan or Marie Curie to see if they can help?

Here are some pics from Dyffryn Gardens today. It was so good to get out into the sunshine.
It is much colder tonight, we've been given some kidney bean plants and we've brought them inside. We lost some cucumber plants earlier in the week.

The scene through the window is marvellous. Clear sky, bright sunshine, and white-capped waves. The wind direction is shifting. Stay cosy and I shall return tomorrow.

I had an appointment with the Consultant this morning, he was pleased with the two X-rays. A plate and five screws in my foot. He is happy for me to put weight through my foot now, still with the boot for two weeks but no crutches, then some physio. It is like learning to walk again.

We called in a National Trust property, Dyffryn Gardens for some lunch on the way home. It was so nice to be out in the fresh air after being incarcerated for three months. DH pushed me around in the wheelchair. There is a walled kitchen garden and they use the produce in the tea shop and also sell some, we bought some asparagus.

For Mr and Mrs Panache ? TOYA and hope that you are getting some help and support.

Thinking of you Panache. Hope you are looking in even if you are not reporting for now.

I think that we need a Quiet Corner in our kitchen. A place for reflection and commisserations.
There is also ample room for smiles, laughter, good humour, photos of beloved grandchildren having a whale of a time and well-pampered pets of all types.

Let us be here here for each other no matter what.

I have an empty loft and my garden shed is in order, virtually zilch- a pity the remainder of the house is not so. I am the clutter queen, going out yesterday and fell into a charity shop (the door was wide open) as one does and came out with 4 more books.

Ann I think people just don’t know what to say to you. Although some people have the gift of finding the right words at difficult times, most of us don’t. I know this from experience as I go through the process of breaking the news of my DHs illness.

I know that you will all share a lot of tears this weekend, but also a lot of happy memories, and it will be good for you all to be together. TOY

Ann I had the same with my dad - no funeral just a quiet day of reflection. I hope you have a lovely weekend with your family. It is indeed a cruel disease, I am going to see my mum today who may or may not recognise me as someone she used to know. To add to her woes she is in a care home owned by Four Seasons which has recently gone into liquidation.

To the Panaches you are in my thoughts and I hope you are now getting some support.

ann, I dont really know what to say to help but we are all here for you. Your weekend sounds good - presumably there will be tears and laughter which could be cathartic.

As for 'friends' who think your loss was, in anyway, a kindness are very thoughtless and insensitive.

Love and best wishes to The Panaches, no more we can do now.
My lovely H was cremated yesterday, only the funeral director and I knew the date and time.
It was a day full of reflection for me.
My D and GC are coming for the long weekend and my S and other GD will be here for some of it.
We will remember better times and how he was before this dreadful illness took him away from us.

I am very depressed and cynical over some friend's reactions, however that is life.
Why is it thought it is " a kindness" a "relief to us all", it doesn't seem that way just now.

I hope you all have a good bank holiday weekend despite the weather which is not going to copy Easter.

Lovely photos of spring! I’ve been a grotty grump with an attack of cellulitis this week so I’m keen to get out...and see the bluebells before it’s too late!

My DD and SiL are going on a knife skills course tomorrow - why do I think of knife throwing? ? I does give me a few hours of time with the delightful Mim - we’re taking her out for lunch at Brasserie Blanc because it’s very child friendly - they offer free macaroni cheese to small people and it’s her current favourite.

panache, you've had the news that you were sort of expecting but never wanted to hear, and given it so brusquely. I hope you're both beginning to digest it and are able to talk it all through together. I’m sad for you to both have this diagnosis for your husband and to be treated so callously too. I do hope you are able to access good support via your GP, perhaps via a local hospice at home scheme or similar. ?

soop full marks for being a star patient, long may it continue! kitty it sounds as if you’ve been “proper poorly*. Mind you even going near a polling station theses days is enough to set my temperature rising, nuff said! This kitchen a tranquil oasis free of such matters!

Izabella, that sounds like satisfying day - curry, wine and good company to follow all sound like an excellent idea. My attics is fairly clear but the garage is my bugbear, do you by any chance offer a consultancy service?

We’re having a night away, a belated celebration for the old boys birthday. En route to a very tasteful B&B we enjoyed a wander round a beautiful arboretum. We've been skirting round the Tour de Yorkshire all day and by doing so avoided both the road closures and the worst of the rain too. Hopefully we will catch up with it all so to speak, later in the weekend when we’re back at home.
