I think we tend to be the more stoic gender. DH will grimace and make huffing noises at every twinge but as the OP says, he has withstood intensive and uncomfortable procedures without batting an eyelid. I don’t think the huffing would happen if I wasn’t around to hear it.

Correct Callistemon, but women very much get the "minor ailment niggles" when the paracetamol and ibuprofen are going down like Smarties and us husbands/partners never hear the end of it.

Actually a nurse told me that men are lovely and uncomplaining to them in the hospital and then moan incessantly to their visitors.

Women moan at the nurses all the time and then make a real effort to be cheerful and uncomplaining to their visitors.

Perhaps what all women need is a nurses uniform ?

Mine too Eglantine I have pics of me in very traditional nurses uniform of the 1960s, cuffs, cap all the works, we were very proud of our uniform then.

When there were 4 men in the house I would say the main difference was when they were sick they were totally out of it whereas DM (me) had to carry on with small DD to look after . I wasn't allowed to collapse so had to take any medications going.
The only other strange thing was their fascination with blood and getting a bandage for the smallest cut so no I disagree with anyone who thinks men are the more stoical.

Women visit the doctor more frequently than men on the whole, but not in my OHs case. He will go to the doctor for all his ailments as he has more faith in medics than I do. I will only go if I think it's life threatening.

I agree Lazigirl My OH seems to be forever googling his complaints so he can tell me all about them.

My OH’s complaining is similar to to Sodapops’, in inverse proportion to the severity of the complaint!

Thanks crazyH it's an on going thing but apparently something you die with and not from.

I'll only go to the doctor's if it's something that I can't fathom out otherwise I treat myself most of the time and work out what it might be. The last time I saw a GP was over a year ago and that was after an unknown TIA.

Anyway by the time you're given an appointment whatever it was that concerned you has gone usually and if I wanted to see a GP it would have to be there and then.
