I'm Granny Chocolate!

When my youngest grandson`s grandad died he became Grandad in the sky, but I don`t think he`s devised a name for my hubby who died 2 and a half years ago, still says Grandad when referring to him.

My 2 year old granddaughter in Australia calls me "Grandma-in-the-phone." I was there when she was born, and have visited since, but she can only remember seeing my face when we chat on the internet.

I hope to have a name-change when I go over for her Mum and Dad's wedding next November.

When my great nephews were at Junior School, i became known as 'Uncle John'. They are both at Secondary School now, but whenever i meet some of the Junior School staff, which is next door to the Secondary School, I am still greeted as Uncle John. Great memories.

I am so glad I started this thread, it has given me such a laugh.

My children had Granny number 4 and granny number 6, after their house numbers ..

My children had Black Mam ( grandma with dark hair and Welsh) and Green Mum . ( English with blonde hair) We never knew where the 'green ' came from

My youngest grandson thought my husband was my dad

When I was little, we had Grandpa with the black hair who was married to Grandma with the white hair (Dad's parents) and Grandpa with the white hair who was married to Grandma with the black hair (Mum's parents).

Eventually, Dad's parents got a tiny kitten who they named Snoopy. Snoopy lived to be about 17 years old. My youngest brother knew our grandparents as Grandma with the Snoopy and Grandma without the Snoopy!

I'm Nanny Island to some of our GC because we live offshore.

My grandchildren use grandma/grandad followed by our first names even for great grandparents. Me and my siblings used to differentiate by using their surnames, for our great grandma... she was just called old grandma. My youngest cousin used to call his grandparents green grandad and silver grandad...... took his mum a while to work out that it was the colour of their cars he was using.

In our family we just have Gran (me) and Granny..We used to have old gran ( my. Mum).

My children had a Nanny Cat and a Nanny Pig.

My children had 5 grandparents. My mum who was Nana,
DH's mum and stepdad - Nanny and Grandad. and DH's
dad and stepmum for some reason always referred to by the children as Nanny and Grandad with the fishpond. So if we said we were going to see Nanny and Grandad it would always come back "is that Nanny and Grandad or Nanny and Grandad with the fishpond". It was only a very small fishpond too.

My DC were not quite so literal with'Nanny in the ground'. ?

When my Mum died they were just toddlers children, so they referred to her as Gran in Heaven. ?

My daughter is over the moon that her little son has for the first time wrote her Mothers day card without help.
She has told him she will keep it forever.

I am very proud to say he also wrote a card for me and insisted that he did not need any help.
It says...
'to lion love xxxx'.

He promptly expained that he couldn't remember how to write Grandma but could write lion,

My GC call me daft granny ,their other granny is normal granny .She's not thrilled at being "normal".It used to turn heads when they were small and at one end of B and Q or a garden centre with mum and they'd yell the length of the shop Daft granny come and see this .They are my joy and my delight ,just as their parents are .Smallest GD calls her other granny AY AY.We have no idea where she got it from but thats whats she's been called since GD started to speak ,she's 8 now .

I’m glad my grandchildren live in Australia and mainly only see me on FaceTime otherwise I’m sure I’d be referred to as Grandma Lazy.

My daughter's children call my ex husband Grandad Beard, and she has taught them to call their other Grandad "Grandad Wrong" since his name is Ron and he always gets her name wrong!

Our GC live with their paternal GP so she is just nannie, I am nannie S*****(surname) I tried to be nanna to distinguish but they decided otherwise.
I called my paternal GM nannie W****. The above sound so much more affectionate.

We did virtually all the early years child care for three of our grandchildren when our DD went back to work, mainly as we were home being FCs . I became Grandma and other GM was named just that---Other Grandma
Names still stick even though they now see as much of the growimg GC as we do
Our little GC have a Guernsey Grandma and a Hastings Grandma

My grandson...then 3...couldn't say great nan. He referred to my mother as Natnan

Ours had Grandma and Grandad Farm and Grandma and Grandad Seaside because that’s where they lived.

My grandson called me Bus Nanny, as the only time he has ever been on a bus was with me. He also calls my mum Chair Nanny ( she's almost 99) as she is always in the same chair when he sees her.
