Formal nights on Fred Olsen cruises

I don't possess a dress. I wore a skirt or trousers with a nice top and bit of blingy jewellery. I also made sure I had a nice evening bag. They just want you to have made an effort.

You will be fine in smart black trousers and a pretty/ sparkly top or else a long skirt. I have no cocktail dresses and just wore what I had. It really does not matter. You will find a variety of attire ranging from very smart to the everyday. The important thing is to enjoy the evening.

Wear black trousers and dressier top if you wish, but you can hardly turn up in casual clothes when DH has made the effort to wear a DJ! Why not enjoy it, get a couple of little black dresses, or even splash out on a bit of colour, from eBay, plenty for under £10? Then you are set up for your next cruise too!

I bought myself a black dress in Debenhams sale. It only cost a quarter of the ticket price. It is now in my wardrobe waiting for another occasion to wear it.

Just don't wear casual. Black trousers and a smart top with shoes other than trainers. Depends upon the climate too: in a warmer climate I have worn white linen trousers with a loose top, gold sandals and a bit of bling!

I just add lippie and costume jewellery to smart outfits that I already own. I bought a pair of bejewelled flip flops from Primark for under a fiver and took a clutch bag for holding tissues, room key etc.

Today's as good a day as any to worry about what to wear. Black velvet trousers and a black fairly long pleated floaty skirt . Topped by a tuxedo type jacket or a black and silver brocade jacket. Totally mix and match. eBay or oxfam are your friend.

I’d pack a jump suit for the (perhaps unlikely) event of being airlifted off by helicopter so that the world and his dog doesn’t get a view of your knickers!

Actually, mcen today’ s as good as any other day. Whatever’s going on with B....t (or not, depending how you view it), we do need to talk about other things or else we’d go stir crazy with the chaos of it all!!!
I think, leeds22, if you don’t feel comfortable with dresses, or don’t want to buy one if you don’t think it will be worn again, then the suggestions given by other posters are good ones - some smart trousers/skirts and dressy tops with a bit of bling and nice shoes should do the trick. ?
