I love my grandson but!

I went to look after two boys 6 and 8 on Monday. 6 yr old was recovering from a committing big and slept on the sofa for most of the time. 8 yr old played with his Lego in his room, then came downstairs, said "Granny I feel sick", and threw up in the bucket provided for the little one, "just in case". I'm going away for the weekend, I hope I remain well, but I've warned my sister in case we can't make it.

I feel bamboozled by one 2 year old (had three myself) and can only put it down to the age gap - you know what to do but haven't got the chutzpah to do it. That's my excuse anyway. Also you are not allowed nowadays to give a swipe to the nappy area after a number of "no's" are totally ignored. Now hiding behind the sofa ........

mine are all a bit older now the eldest almost 16 the youngest 8.Its my birthday on Friday and I warned them not to spend money on me.My Daughter and Son and their partners organised dinner this evening,the highlight was the gift from them all.They had got together and painted small self portraits on tiny 2" square canvasses and mounted them all on a piece of cork.With tags (in case I didn't recognise who was who) ,a very special extra was the painting of a tree in all four seasons that I've been asking my OH to take for me for years (photograph) this one is much better being the work of my 12 year old GD.I dont often get emotional but I've cried buckets . Worth far more than any expensive trinket they could have bought .They are fabulous children,but then I'm biased and blessed .

What a perfect day! I know what you mean, I had 5, I’ve no idea idea at all how I did it and sometimes find myself wondering if it really was me who did! I guess the answer is I was at least 37 -48 years younger then! I now spend every Wednesday running groups for parents/grandparents with babies/toddlers, I’m exhausted by 4pm but not half as tired as I imagine those superstar grannies attending the group do!! Sleep well mycat !
