Made me laugh, anyway! grin

A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald's. He noticed that they had ordered one meal, and an extra drink cup. As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them. Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn't have to split theirs. The old gentleman said, "Oh no. We've been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50." The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat, and she replied, "It's his turn with the teeth."

70-year-old George went for his annual check-up. He told the doctor that he felt fine, but often had to go to the bathroom during the night. Then he said: "But you know Doc, I'm blessed. God knows my eyesight is going, so he puts on the light when I pee, and turns it off when I'm done!" A little later in the day, Dr. Smith called George's wife and said: "Your husband's test results were fine, but he said something strange that has been bugging me. He claims that God turns the light on and off for him when uses the bathroom at night." Thelma exclaimed: "That old fool! He's been peeing in the refrigerator again!

hmm should we be telling jokes about chickens and hippos.

Blonde DD thought DH's blonde joke was very good.

Two men were trying to measure the height of a pole with a steel tape, but the tape would keep bending and falling before they could reach the top of the pole.
A blonde woman comes by and asks "what are you guys trying to do?"
They tell her "we're trying to find the height of this pole, but our tape measure keeps bending before it gets to the top."
The woman points to the base of the pole and says "see that pin there? if you pull out that pin, you can lay the pole down to the ground and then measure it"
They pull the pin, lower the pole to the ground. the blonde woman grabs the tape and measures the pole.
"12 feet, 6 inches" she says proudly, and walks away.
"Typical blonde" says one man to the other "we ask her for the height and she gives us the length"

Of course, that is a sexist joke and negatively stereotypical

No it doesn't lose anything. It's good.

Grammaretto Fri 22-Mar-19 14:39:13

Ha ha!!
I thought it was going to be about us when it began as we often share a meal and ask for a second plate. We draw the line at teeth though ..... but it's an idea. wink
So little to laugh at these days. Keep 'em coming.
I like the hippo joke.

EllanVannin Fri 22-Mar-19 14:38:49

I couldn't imagine you'd have a sense of humour Maryeliza.
Boom boom !

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:29:26

Most people don't get the hippo joke - all I can say is its the incongruity of two hippos saying something so mundane that it's not unusual for humans to say to each other. Hmmmmm it loses something in the explanation.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:28:00

The chicken one is good.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:27:31

No MaryE. Tell me!!!

Kittye Fri 22-Mar-19 14:24:45

I get the chicken joke, but the hippo??

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:21:13

I think GG that jokes don’t work if they have to be explained - you either get them or you don’t.

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:20:13

Here’s another - saw it in a card shop last week. Two chickens, one holding a recipe book with two eggs in front of her on the ground a few centimetres apart says to the other ‘ this meringue recipe says to separate two eggs but it doesn’t say how far ‘ Boom boom

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:10:47

I don't understand that joke.

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:01:20

Meaning?

Jane10 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:59:48

confused Explains a lot.

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:53:02

Two hippopotami wallowing in mud, one says to the other "I keep thinking today is Tuesday' Boom boom

Jane10 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:50:54

Maryeliza54 give us an example of something that appeals to your sense of humour?

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:47:29

It depends what you're laughing at - I think jokes that rely on negative stereotypes of specific groups are rarely if ever funny. My sense of humour isn't based on or related to my my age ( or my gender or disability for that matter)

Mapleleaf Fri 22-Mar-19 13:43:30

Made me laugh! I think it's important to not take ourselves too seriously, sometimes. grin

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:34:04

Disagree GG

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 13:22:53

Thread title could be better though.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 13:21:30

It's neither of those things.

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 13:19:17

Horrible - not funny at all - ageist and pathetic

MawBroon Fri 22-Mar-19 13:16:06

On a par with blonde jokes, Essex jokes, normal for Norfolk jokes.
“Jokes” [ confused]

EllanVannin Fri 22-Mar-19 12:28:44

Made me laugh too, especially the first one. Share and share alike.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 12:23:28

grin (especially the second one)

aggie Fri 22-Mar-19 12:21:16

Think I have lost my sense of humour :{
