Well as first for me. Opening a new kitchen full of light, love and support

callgirl1 Sun 07-Apr-19 20:12:26

No wonder it didn`t work standing on your head Doodle, it will just make the instructions upside down just like you, turn the instructions upside down before you commence your acrobatics all should become clear then.

Doodle Sun 07-Apr-19 19:27:03

Oh some sad stories here. It always feels wrong when children die at a young age. Must be very upsetting for minibaggs
callgirl I love discomknockerated ? must think of a way of slipping that into a conversation
mamissimo. Congratulations for winning. You must be very pleased.
Had a lazy day today. Been trying to master blind hemming on my new sewing machine. Have tried standing on my head whilst following the instructions but that didn’t work either. I am about to indulge in a wine and see if that makes it any easier ?

dragonfly46 Sun 07-Apr-19 18:46:00

So sad baggs and kitty.

Well done mamissimi.

Such sad stories Kitty and Baggs. It`s a long time ago now, but my eldest daughter, who`s never made friends easily, had a best friend when aged 14, this girl went on a barge holiday with her family, decided to help at the lock gates, and was killed when the bar swung back into her. Lynne still remembers Norma even after 41 years.
Mamissimo, well done, did you show us your quilt? I seem to remember someone making a quilt not too long ago.

baggs, I feel so sad for minibaggs and her friends and of course the family of the girl who died.

This has happened with friends of all my children. The one that was felt the most by all of us was the girl who had a really unhappy teenage time but had at last found love and was coming home from her work leaving do to be with her Italian fiance. She didn't drink because she was epileptic. On her way home she had a fit and hit her head as she fell.

Her father held a funeral service that was the wedding party they should have had.

Her friends now have an annual fundraiser for an epileptic charity.

Mamissimo Sun 07-Apr-19 17:40:38

I’ve been faffing about today with a great big smile - I entered the story quilt I made for my GD in a local show and won the cup! I’ve never won a cup for anything before and it made my day!

And then we won a prize in the raffle ?

Here’s one smug gran...

Baggs Sun 07-Apr-19 17:33:38

Minibaggs came home from uni last night so that she could attend a morning mass at a local church for her schoolfriend who died last weekend. I don't think the cause of death is known yet. She was only eighteen. Everyone is in shock.

I have just driven M back to the station for her train back to Edinburgh. This death will be a permanent marker in the lives of her schoolfriends. Minibaggs thought the dead girl was going to be a lifelong friend.

soop Sun 07-Apr-19 17:13:06

eilyann shock that is such a happy ending to the bread & butter baked wedding ring.

anno That elbow is painful for a valid reason. You have asked too much of it. Don't go giving it yet more garden wellie. As my late Nana used to say...you'll really really regret it.

The sun is shining but there is a chilly breeze. Our weather has gone a bit bonkers. All will be well.

I shall leave you all with thanks for your company. Until tomorrow TOYA smile moon

eilyann Sun 07-Apr-19 16:25:51

Fennel you've reminded me of the time my DMIL baked her wedding ring into a bread pudding. DH found it!

annodomini Sun 07-Apr-19 13:38:21

Sunshine on and off today but warmer than it's been. I might not need two jumpers. Yesterday I went to the garden centre (20% discount) and bought a few plants. I then hoed the bed where I want to create a cottage-style border and, in the middle of the night, woke up unable to straighten my right elbow. Massage with 12-hour Voltarol helped a lot. Now for a second session in the garden, risking a hefty dose of pollen from the neighbouring massive birch. sad
Panache, I hope your recent viewers come up with the goods, though that would present you with the problem of finding your own new home. What a palaver is house buying and selling!
callgirl - a lovely portmanteau word, discomknockerated. I don't think we have heard the last of it.
Cheers, all. Have a lovely afternoon. TOYA

soop Sun 07-Apr-19 13:16:32

Doodle grin grin

callgirl1 discomknockerated A lovely, descriptive word for us lot to use here in the kitchen.

corner Conserve your energy. You need it for important stuff. Bless, Mr Corner. A few extra brownie points for him. smile

Dragonfly The ring is in safe hands. Where it belongs. x

Panache stay strong. You are our resident wonder woman.

Justme67 Time shared with your friend is well spent. she will derive much comfort from sharing your company.

It's grey-ish. We had a short walk this morning. Nothing heroic. There is always a chance of the sun peering through the mist hanging over the island mountains.

Back a little later.

soop Sun 07-Apr-19 13:02:09

Kalu 4 sausages inside your loose ring. Love it. grin

Marydoll I must have missed that you've also been under the weather. Sending healing vibes to you from me. Keep well away from the Poteen. wink

Panache Sun 07-Apr-19 12:59:45

Sorry your weather disappoints you Charley...........but yes we have a golden orb in perfect blue skies giving off lovely sunshine......same yesterday and I think possably similar tomorrow......................and then even our county will go down hill with possably snow in tne forecast!!!
The weather has gone totally mad!
I shall send you some sunshine though I am good at sharing !!

Charleygirl5 Sun 07-Apr-19 12:53:47

Sun- may I ask what that is? It is grey and miserable in London.

Justme67 Sun 07-Apr-19 12:48:47

I really should not sit in the sun and fall asleep! It was only for about 15 minutes, but of course the body is not used to it at the moment, and I woke up feeling a bit dizzy, my bad night's sleep last night probably did not help. I have put the lunch on, and will now go to just sit and wait for it to heat up, fortunately a ready meal. I am ready for it, and will spend a little while this afternoon with a neighbour whose husband has Parkinson, so she is rather tied to the house, it is good to chat sometimes even about nothing in particular, will probably put the world to rights again.

Fennel Sun 07-Apr-19 12:28:51

Talking about engagement rings - one of my teenage memories was coming home one day and seeing my Mum's sapphire and diamond engagement ring hanging on the doorbell knob shock.
My naughty little sister was to blame.

Panache Sun 07-Apr-19 11:14:10

Another superb Sunday sunshine to get our pulses racing and bringing smiles to our faces, good morning my lovely kitchen friends.

Must say seeing you survived following a trip to the tip Corner truly brought a smile to my face!! My word you do live dangerously!
As it happens I have that same "luxury trip" organised for tomorrow morning!

Many thanks Kalu and others for responding to my worries over losing my Wedding ring, having had it lost..........and found again fortunately ........some ago ,I do not wish to risk the same thing again. So I shall be getting it
fixed at the Jewellers with probably the contraption you mentioned.
The first adjustment saw the ring actually made smaller by the Jeweller Doodle, this means you loose a fair bit of gold so this time I shall opt for a "contraption!!"

A very sad story indeed about your Mum`s ring Dragonfly

Another happy Moshulu customer here, they really know how to provide comfort and style, with such a variety of colours.

Hopefully your man continues to improve daily Syn and that you are taking good care of yourself.......in preperation for the time he returns home.

So good having you back on board Marydoll and I hope you are truly feeling much better again.I heartily agree these GN foks are the best ever.

Another afternoon perusing those homes for sales and lets around whilst still ever hopeful the Sheltered Housing may come up trumps. We really need to get this side of our lives sorted.

Wishing you all every blessing on this lovely day.Take care.

dragonfly46 Sun 07-Apr-19 08:27:36

Panache my mums engagement ring got caught on the car boot and bent so badly it could not be repaired. The jeweller offered to reset it but she would not let it go. Then she lost her wedding ring. I found it on the floor of the wardrobe when I was clearing out her bungalow! She can’t wear it now as she would just lose it again in the home. So sad!
TOYA

cornergran Sun 07-Apr-19 08:00:09

Morning All. I survived the trip to the tip grin.

Well, survived yesterday without blood on the carpet and with luck should finish the ‘putting it all back’ process today. Younger muscle is calling in to deal with the wardrobe top boxes and a management decision has been made to put the doors - unpainted- back on the wardrobes. They will be painted ‘one day when I feel like it’ as my ma in law used to say.

Enough is enough now, we’re on child care duties during the school holiday and somehow enough pressure. I’m sort of running on half energy at the moment, will pick up again and sometimes, just sometimes common sense prevails.

How frustrating to have real interest in your home but no sign of somewhere you would feel comfortable living in panache. Look after that ring, you’d be devastated if it slipped off.

Good to hear from you mary, hope you Mum is improving baggs, I’ve got serious coat envy soop, mine are all so boring hmm.

Mr C has just gone to make our morning cuppa, he’s a good soul smile.

Be good everyone, TOYA.

Nannytopsy Sun 07-Apr-19 02:59:52

I have seen that coach in Leicester too Callgirl! It looked like something from a Disney film.
Nearly 3am and no sign of sleep for no apparent reason. I am glad you have got really interested viewers this time Panache and do hope something can be done. Charlie has just come to join me - he does like company!

callgirl1 Sat 06-Apr-19 22:01:12

Evening all.
Hoping all with buggerations aren`t too discomknockerated tonight. Baggs I hope that your mum is feeling better.
Soop, you`ve managed what I never seem to be able to do, and that is have a hairdo look as good the following day as it did when first done!
I was in town this afternoon and as I walked past the Stump, local name for St. Botolph`s parish church, I realised there was a wedding going on. Couldn`t see bride and groom for people, but there was a pretty little round, white Cinderella type coach waiting for them, with 2 beautiful white horses harnessed to it. Must have cost a fortune to hire. A man near me said "can`t see the point of it all really...……….but the horses are nice!"

Doodle Sat 06-Apr-19 21:24:52

soop that really is a lovely style and really suits you. You must be very pleased.
syn good to hear your DH isn’t in as much pain and is getting going with exercising. Hope this means you both get some good sleep at night.
gq I used to work at a GP surgery. Some were fantastic and would always go the extra mile. Sounds like your poor neighbour got one of the less caring kind. Such a shame that older folk aren’t given more consideration.
Congratulations to your DD gd that’s really good news. Hope it works out well for her.
kalu as someone else whose rings keep being adjusted could you describe your sausages. I have had a brace put in but the edges kept getting caught on things and breaking. I would be interested in a better solution. P.s. are they pork sausages or the hot dog type ?
TOYA sleep well.

Kalu Sat 06-Apr-19 21:06:54

I’ll second customers services are excellent Kitty

I receive a catalogue from them, on line service is very good as are their sales. DH also likes their gents shoes and he is a fussy beggar?

kittylester Sat 06-Apr-19 20:24:13

Moshulu customer services are brilliant so returns are easy.

Good to see you back marydoll, hope you feel better.

Marydoll Sat 06-Apr-19 20:14:10

Thanks, Kalu, I too am a size 5! grin
