Well as first for me. Opening a new kitchen full of light, love and support

Greyduster Mon 08-Apr-19 15:16:29

Sorry, forgot! TOYA!

Greyduster Mon 08-Apr-19 15:15:59

Good afternoon kitcheners from a very tired Greyduster. I had a hideously sleepless night and GS has been here today, good as gold, but we are not doing anything strenuous but he wanted to make a cake for his mum. See above. It is lemon drizzle and is filled with marscapone icing and fresh raspberries. We have not got the hang of piping letters yet, but it is all his own work and Mum will love it. Not sure I will get a piece as we are going away tomorrow. We are off to Wales to visit DH’s sister who has dementia. She had a fall a few weeks ago (which she can’t remember at all) and broke her hip. She is now back at home, which I find remarkable for all the wrong reasons. I have no idea what to expect.

Ann I am so sorry to hear about your DH. That sounds like it was a bolt out of the blue for you, and I can’t imagine how you feel. I hope your family are supporting you.

We will be incommunicado for a few days as Sis in Law has no WiFi or broadband facility and I am anxious not to use up my data, as DD and her menfolk are away from Wednesday and I need to keep in touch with them.

See you all Friday, Deo Volente.

Feeling so very much for you Ann hearing once again that your poor H has taken another turn for the worse.Such a worrying time, but the one blessing appears to be that he is in no pain, hopefully at least that continues to be the case.
Sending you sincere hugs and much love, you have had so much to contend with over the years.......and sadly it continues.

Felt very low this morning when I woke but then a friend took me out and the sun came out again!

dragonfly46 Mon 08-Apr-19 14:27:35

Well done mum it is so exciting winning things. My daughter gave me a subscription to Bloom andWild for my birthday and I get a beautiful bouquet every month.

Oh ann so sorry. Crossed posts. I am so glad he does not seem to be in pain. That must have come as a shock. Hope whatever treatment is given maintains his comfort. flowers

Just to say my H is very ill.
Cancer has spread to multiple organs and bones.
Meeting of Senior staff this afternoon to plan the future.
I will know more tomorrow.
He is refusing food and drink but appears pain free.

mumofmadboys Mon 08-Apr-19 13:42:52

No they are from something like Bunches.co.uk Not sure I deserve them but very thrilled!

Tuppnce Mon 08-Apr-19 13:38:55

Wonderful momb!
Are the flowers from Bloom & Wild?
Well deserved!

mumofmadboys Mon 08-Apr-19 13:31:03

Lovely photo Soop. I have won a Gransnet competition! I'm very thrilled because I rarely win anything. It is a copy of the Supervet book and a flower subscription so I'll have a bouquet delivered monthly for 6 months. How lovely! Just wanted to share my good news.

Our eldest granddaughter, Hannah, celebrated her 30th birthday last week. She is a lovely person. Intelligent, artistic and totally self sufficient. She hasn't a partner but she has a very good friend who lives close by. Hannah enjoys stepping in to help with her friend's two young children.

Pic taken at her birthday tea party.

soop Mon 08-Apr-19 11:37:19

Cake! Oh thnaks a lot, 1inamillion. Red Velvet cake sounds exotic. What are the calorie-free ingredients? wink

Pananche Don't dilly dally at the tip. smile

Izabella - where be you? Us lot are needing reassurance that you are well. We miss you.

soop Mon 08-Apr-19 11:31:49

A cheery good morning to you lovely lot. Sun shinining but there is still that dratted chilly wind.

Baggs - Mini Baggs will feel heartbroken, as will her friend's family. I cannot think how one ever comes to terms with the death of a young person who was in the brink of discovering and realising their full potential. Such a tragic waste.

Loud cheers, Mamissimo...we have a trophy winner in the kitchen. Excellent news. flowers

The sun is decidedly hiding this morning here on our west coast!

How good to join you all before I set off on the adventure of my life............like our Corner I am off to the local tip if you please!!

However certainly some sober moments reading these stories above and it certainly makes you realise one must make the most of each new day ........for none of us know when "the call" may come........for us or our loved ones.

A real change of mood with not only your rather glam picture Mamissimo but fancy winning twice in the one day, your luck was certainly in! A great effort with the quilt so a well deserved trophy I say.

A quickie from me this morning but yes I will echo your query Gransal............it is more than a little worrying not hearing a dickie bird from Izabella, her posts have always been such an uplift.

Wishing you all a very pleasant day and not forgetting TOYA!!

gransal Sun 07-Apr-19 22:34:52

any word on Izabella

1inamillion Sun 07-Apr-19 21:07:10

* Mamissimo * Well done you.

Some sad recollections here. My DD's good friend was tragically killed in work related accident at a building site aged 21. His death affected their small close knit group of friends so much. I think that was the time they really grew up. So sad Baggs and Kitty and Callgirl1

A quiet day for us today.
Have left some Red Velvet Cake on the work top.
