Soops kitchen refuge for gentle ladies

Hello the kitchen. I really don’t mind you laughing at my soggy dilemma. It is nothing to that which I shall suffer when my children get to know about it. My son, I know, will make my life hell for weeks?‍♀️! Even I can see the funny side this morning, though I feel a little peeved now that I missed what is the best part of the day, as fish start to come to the top in the late afternoon and I love that - it’s very exciting (yes I know, I should get a life!). At the bottom of the forest road on the way out, DH was struggling with the gate, which has an awkard coded lock. I usually do it, but was not in a position to get out of the car! A nice young man, carting a load of photographic equipment, came along and helped him out, then asked the way to Bamford Station. We passed him again on the hill and asked if he wanted a lift. He took one look at me sitting in the front swaddled in blankets with no shoes or socks on and decided he’d walk!!

Kitty I am sorry to hear that Bertie’s asthma has floored him again. I can only hope that he will grow out of it soon, the same as I did when young. It is utterly miserable. As Marydoll says, medication is so much better now.

Hope you’re continuing to progress well, Soop and that you and MacS are being sure to rest.

Well, I will look in later for one of Marydoll’s hot cross buns, so hide one under a cushion for me, please, as they probably won’t last very long!

Kittie, sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery for Bertie.
My middle son was the same, usually his worst in the middle of the night, we carried a nebuliser everywhere with us.
I see such a difference in the way my wee grandaughter's asthma is being treated compared to my son. So many advances in asthma treatment, nowadays.

Soop, so glad to see you are improving, but you musn't over do it. I'm saying that in my sternest "teacher" voice.

I can never keep up with the comings and goings, so hugs for all in the kitchen.

Bertie spent the night in hospital with his asthma and has just come home. This year is not going well so far!!!

Good to see you again Glassortwo, I`ve been wondering where you were for a while, we never did manage that meet up.

Fennel I too am taking meds for breast cancer. I take the ones your friend is probably taking plus a recently licensed one for advanced breast cancer. There are indeed many new treatments which is a good thing as 1 in 8 women get breast cancer.

Oh my gosh soop, what a gorgeous grandson you have. So glad that things are getting better for you, early days, so take it easy please.

I rang back my dear friend who told me about her breast cancer yesterday, and ask her about the meds. she has to take. They're hormonal, but have another effect of weakening the bones ( osteoparosis) which she has already.
So there's a range of treatments for breast cancer these days. We're very fortunate really, with all the new research.

Hi, glassortwo, I don't remember seeing you around for quite some time. I hope all is well with you. I remember that when I first joined Gransnet - in the second week, I think - you were one of the members who welcomed me, along with the then numberplease! We are survivors!
Lovely photo of Torben, Since we first 'knew' him, he's been a lovely looking lad and he's going to be a very dashing young man. I can't get over how grown-up he's looking.

And yes, Torben has the most beautiful expressive face. I sat down fairly close to him as he watched the pirate adventure. One click of the camera...hey presto.

It's allowed. Let off steam when needs be. Better than blowing a gasket and needing to sample a wee dram of the Argy's lethal poteen. I'm still recovering from that night when I danced on their table top. It so needed a polish - the table top - but I was trying to be genteel and not point out the unholy mess that I encountered.

Its been an odd sort of day here . We set off on a 20 min trip to Tescos , got diverted as the road was closed and somehow...no idea how - got diverted to another diversion that had no link to the original one . Nearly 90 mins later ( after going past our village TWICE we arrived and were so out of sorts we had to stop for cake and a coffee !!! So our day has only been marginally better than yours ||Grey just not so wet!!!

The base for the Oval Office is now in and Grampy has been out nurturing the new lawn ( which is still just dirt!!) and I have been prepping for guests .

Hello the kitchen! Blimey, I agree with Soop that it fairly gallops along!
Soop that is a lovely photo of Torben. He looks very serene!
After my ridiculous meltdown yesterday, all tangled up in my own inadequacies, I went fishing today. The weather was perfect; we drove down from the crest of the Hope Valley with that heart stopping view in front of us of the Great Ridge and Edale escarpment etched crisp against the skyline, in the best light I have seen for a long time. Ladybower was quiet and relatively calm and I caught two very good fish before lunch. After lunch it all went down hill just as I was enjoying myself, as I dropped my line clippers down the bank, lost my balance trying to retrieve them - and fell into the water!! Fortunately it wasn’t very deep; about two feet or so but my God it was cold, so a horrible shock! Although the water levels in the reservoir are at their absolute optimum again, it shelves fairly gently, but the only part of me that wasn’t wet through was my hat! If DH hadn’t been sitting a few yards away reading a book, I would have struggled to get out. So that put paid to that, and I came home wearing nothing but an old fleece jacket I keep in the car, and a tartan travel rug! Here are a couple of photos - one of a silly old woman before she got a soaking! I don’t think I’ve ever done that all the time I have been fishing, though I have had some close calls on rivers. Should give GS a chuckle when Grandad tells him - which he surely will! Surprised he didn’t take a photo .

soop so pleased that your progress is positive and that you are taking rest and looking after yourself as requested!! What a handsome young man he is! I can understand your wonderment watching his face. Continue to keep well and warmest good wishes to MacS also.

soop pleased to hear that the wound is slowly healing- you have been through the mill and you must continue to rest. You have had major surgery and it takes around 3 months to recover from that and you have more in store- or at least chemo/radio to start with.

Be very careful, I have next week free and Tara and I could arrive on your doorstep to make sure that you follow orders. I will not leave out MacSporran.

It is dull here- it is supposed to be 16C. I am waiting indoors for Amazon to deliver. Two small packages which were supposed to come Thursday and Friday arrived through the letterbox today so this package is the last. I promise not to spend any more money but the three items arriving today have saved me £24 and the main bill is £25.

Baggs Banana loaf vanished into thin air two hungry bellies. Yay!

Nurse delighted to see that contents of the stoma bag was a miniscule 10 mls. It was 300 mls the day before yesterday. Wound clean and no sign of redness or irritation. After our dear friend's funeral on Friday, the bag will be removed and a dressing applied until the openeing has healed.

At this time last week, I was wearing "elderly ladyies" slippers and walking with a nurse towards the operating theatre. Tomorrow I shall be informed of next step in the recovery programme. I feel as tip-top as it's humanly possible to be at this stage. So very, very thankful and grateful.

I shall add a particularly beautiful photo of our youngest grandson. He was engrossed in a pirate fantasy film at the time. I couldn't take my eyes off his face.
