Soops kitchen refuge for gentle ladies

Little B was one in February and is holding on by the very tip of his fingers,still not ready to totally let go.
I hope that things are easier today for those of you with health and other worries.Been a difficult couple of days here so have not had a chance to catch up with everything in the kitchen but know that I think of you all often and hopefully as things settle down I can be more of a support to you lovely people who have supported and encouraged me over the last week.?

Thanks for all your advice. I’m sure her dds will make sure she has insurance. She’s pretty fit and well in herself most of the time, but I do worry about her driving even if it is just locally

I’ve only got one day before it’s Mim’s first birthday and she’s so nearly there....but I’m not so sure about letting the walking genii out of the pot! I must make sure that DD has developed those eyes in the back of her head and see if I can find mine again! ?

Well done Max. We hoped our little Harry would walk by his first birthday last Saturday but he is still holding on!!

I`ve just been looking at a little video of Max on Lynne`s facebook, he`s WALKING! He`s just turned 11 months. I know that lots of babies walk around that age and earlier, but out of my 5 the earliest was 14 months, so well done Max!

The sun is shining brightly. The sea is several shades of blue/green. The birds are busy collecting fresh nest material. Our three resident crows snapp twigs from branches and fly away with purpose. A lovely time of the year.

Marydoll If the thorn remains in your finger it may cause sepsis. Sepsi is a very serious condition. From a wee scratch on my thumb (thirteen years ago) I developed sepsis. Was treated in Oban hospital, given intravenous drugs over a period of 10 days. Infection monitored with a marker pen as it travelled from the thumb to within inches of my armpit.

Go to the GP. Now!

Maw Isn't it the truth that the greater the love, the greater the sorrow when you lose the loved one. It is a heavy price to pay. Yet, those who know true love are blest.

Galen soop has a valid point about your friend's dementia. I am so pleased you have made up. I remade contact with an old friend last night and I now feel so much better.

Galen I am also wondering - was Anne's outburst in part due to her oncoming dementia. If so, she may be partly forgiven for hurting your feelings when you were grieving for the loss of your child.

Galen What a dilemma. All the responses you've received, have been perfectly well balanced. It really scares me that, until fairly recently, your friend was still driving. I am thinking that her daughters are best qualified to weigh up their mother's capabilities during this downward turn in her health.
I am far from being an expert on such matters. I do hope that someone who is will step in and say yay or nay.

Callgirl I have no experience of chemo but many friends of mine say it tends to affect them most on the third or fourth day then it gets better until the next time. I hope your son feels better soon. Chemo and radio at the same time is a lot to cope with.

Galen, you said that Ann's daughters had persuaded her to notify her insurance company. Have you seen any evidence that she's done this? I'm sure you will tell her that you'll go without her unless she can show you that evidence. It will be a shame if she can't go as it could well be her last chance. Isn't she the neighbour who slagged you off about not going to Lucy's funeral? I guess that might have been the dementia talking. Anyway, you are friends again which is a good thing.

soop So glad to hear that all is progressing well. Keep doing what you're doing as it's obviously working!

A fleeting visit as I am having one very rare few moments for just me............and yes not a Hospital or Surgery visit!!!
Having my hair done but even that is traumatic as it is not with my long term H/D of over 20 years and now a good friend, but a completely different place more or less on our doorstep...........just 3 miles away.Future proofing our situation all around us now having learnt the hard way.

A dilemna indeed Galen but our friends here are certainly offering much real help, although I rather think you are more than capable of dealing with this situation..........though extremely delicate certainly.

Feeling very much for you Dragonfly as with Soop and now Callgirl`s son getting on with their cancer treatment you must be truly feeling a little left out and just eager to get going.Your turn will come but it is a painful wait.

Until your son gets into some rhythm with his chemo etc Callgirl it can be difficult,all new things tend to knock the system about a bit but it should soon become more plain sailing.Usually it can mean a rough few days but the rest of the month feeling better.Although I will be the first to add ...........everyone reacts differently.

Maw These moments are so heart wrenching but you need to keep going so that it is all done, hope you are making good progress. x

Galen we have just heard that a cousin, who was not going to bother with insurance because of the loading due to his medical problems, picked up a bug on a Med cruise and is in hospital at the next port of call in Spain. He is very glad that he paid the premium now as two of his children disembarked with him so they all need to be flown home and the insurance company are paying You never know and it is not worth the risk.
You need someone with you who is fit and well! Hope you get it all sorted.

Maw I am afraid these moments are going to occur from time to time. To a lesser extent I catch a glimpse of my father's wallet or a letter comes for him and I have a heart wrenching moment. But they do say without love there is no pain and I know which I would rather have had.

If she does have dementia, moving out of her normal environment and going on a cruise could be very disconcerting for her. My brother got very confused when we went on a cruise and was worse when he got back home. Mind you if she’s not formally diagnosed she’s probably not that bad at the moment and May is not far away. I wouldn’t have thought the cruise line would take her if she didn’t have insurance. They don’t usually.
