Soops kitchen refuge for gentle ladies

Morning all.

Strange to start the day with hair as a topic but I did mention only last week I was visiting a new salon as my dear friend and H/D of over 20 years is now too far away for me to visit.
Have always had shortish hairstyles as any longer length does not suit me........yet now at this age I would love having my hair up in a sort of bun!!!
However I came out with what was called a Helen Mirren "gamin style"............ not a million miles from the picture you present us with Soop...............but even shorter.
I am not entirely convinced,my man loves it and it is certainly extremely easy to keep tidy.
The only way to "test and try" beforehand would be to try on a wig of that style.
However a very big change for you........I already and always have had my hair rather short.
With being forever in/out of Hospital I can vouch these shorter styles certainly are the easiest to care for.
However think again dear Soop because you do have the most beautiful hair.

By the way the reason I was so shell shocked by such a sound sleep is simply because of my normal pattern of very little sleep and nocturnal loo visits every 2 hours!!!!
I know you might gasp.........my GP did .......but very sadly it has been the bane of my life these latter years.
So that one good deep sleep sadly has proven to be just the odd one!

Bless you Willow for braving the fact there are so many kitchen posters nowadays and yet you managed to mention so many of us.I always love your posts as you seem to have so much going on in your life.

Oh!dear Corner it does seem as if you have your poor man on the war path,hope its only a mere "blip" and all will be well in the homefront soon.

Although when my man was first presented with a dead mole he was almost sick...........in our case had we not had the mole catchers in the best part of an acre was a complete mess of mole hills ...................NOT the best look where viewers are concerned!
Whilst if just in a garden Callgirl I would understand trying all methods........which believe you me, we have tried over 5 years!!

Feeling for you N & G and I think you have a good plan there letting your man free to be pampered by the older ladies whilst you try and get yourself back on track again.

A few showers overnight have certainly freshened the outside areas giving off that lovely smell............sun is again breaking through though I think "April showers" are forecast.

Hello the kitchen. I am in no hurry to get going today. We had a bit of a full on day with The Boy yesterday and both feel a little frayed around the edges. He is no trouble at all, bless him, but his energy levels are extraordinary. Grandad took him down to our little park yesterday for a kickabout. They have an AstroTurf pitch with goals, and had it to themselves but then offered to share it with a couple of boys who came along, and have an “end” each. After a while said boys asked if they wanted to “join up and have a match” and at that point DH said no, sorry, we are ready to go home (well, he was; GS would have been there all day!). It is hard enough for him these days being run into the ground by one twelve year old, but three? He saw discretion as the better part of valour. In the afternoon, we went to the nine hole golf course. That was a bit of a curate’s egg experience, but it passed the afternoon. I was caddy and scorer, but the scoring was a bit creative on the part of the golfers, to say the least, so I just wrote down the first thing that came into my head!

Soop I think a shorter cut would suit you fine. I have favoured a short style for years and my hairdresser says it takes years off me (well, she would, wouldn’t she??). Hope you are continuing to improve post surgery, and that dear MacS is okay too. Your mole problem reminded me of visits to the Peak District as a child when whole lines of dead moles, in varying states of decay, would be strung along fence wires by farmers. You don’t see it these days and I’m glad though I know what damage they can do.

Gq I have always tentatively let it be known that a spa day would send me running for the hills in case either DD or DiL ever thought it might make a good present. DD was given one by her partner, but took his mother instead of me because she knew it would be an ordeal! I’m sure you will be better able to embrace it than I!

N&G!! You? Taking to your bed? There is no hope for the world! Seriously, I hope you feel better soon and I think it is very generous of you to leave Grampy to the ministrations and admirations of the old ladies at the slimming group! If he is totally insufferable when he comes back, you can always call on the ⚡️Leg of Lamb?⚡️!

Kitty I hope you are feeling more yourself today. I think when you have a lot on your mind, it all catches up and fells you after a while.

I must go. DD bought me some plants for Mother’s Day for my new rock garden, so I am going to try to get them out in between the showers. I was going to bake today but am going to leave that until Thursday now in the hope that it will keep GS entertained for a while and give Grandad a break!

Someone was very thoughful where your Mother`s day florals was concerned GreyD.......plants that you can plant out will give you yearly pleasure and just not for the 2 weeks a bouquet gives.
Which reminds me of my very first attempt at a rockery.
I had sent for these plants and when they arrived planted them out very carefully.
Sadly weeding months later I was not so diligent..........taking out most of the plants it seemed but leaving the little blighters,the weeds!
You certainly learn.....and usually the hard way!

I have just been reminded that our Electricity is going off between 9am and 3 pm tomorrow folks .....and so I will have to work out a method of coping, whilst it maybe I shall not have a suitable moment to show my nose in this Kitchen............not a nice thought, but I thought I would forewarn you all!!
With the amount of posting nowadays we can easily skip a few days without being duly noticed I suppose!
I hope so anyway!

The decorating continues - I have retired to the computer, safer here as my tried and tested role of quality control doesn't seem to be appreciated this morning. I know, should just keep quiet but sometimes a second pair of eyes sees what the first hasn't. Need a huge [sigh] emoji. .

I've never been to a spa, sometimes wonder if I've missed out but then I remember how irritated I get with 'faffing' at the hairdressers and decide its been a lucky escape.

That reminds me, hair cut due very soon so I will need to summon more patience than seems to be available at the moment. I like my hairdresser, we get on well and usually she listens to my often unreasonable requests but just sometimes she decides to use initiative, lets hope today isn't one of them.

My GP surgery seems to have forgotten the need to chase an appointment for me for the flipping arm and shoulder which get more painful by the day so that will be next stop for a face to face chat. The receptionist who was arranging it is unfailingly pleasant and kind, just overly busy I suspect. It seems to be my day for a good old moan, so I'll be off before I depress everyone.

Good morning kitcheners, I am off to what is hopefully my last physiotherapy appointment in a moment. Leaving Mr.Gravy in charge of our 4yr old GC who has got Grandpa totally wrapped around his finger...... he managed to turn a simple request for poached egg on toast this morning into poached egg, hash brown, bacon and toast.......all I got was a cup of tea????

Weather has turned grey and chilly in SE Essex which is frustrating as I am desperate to get into the garden (back permitting) to tidy up pots and replant where needed.

Panache if you only have electricity don't forget to fill some flasks with boiling water for tea/coffee etc, whilst you are without power, also make sure your mobiles/tablets are all charged.

Soop have been thinking about your haircut, and trying on a wig to see if you like the style is a super idea.

Time to leave you my dear friends, have left some homemade banana bread on the side ????

Snap N&G , I have been in bed since early afternoon yesterday.
I am just never ill and this, whatever it is, came on so suddenly.
I was out for a meal on Sunday evening for Mothering Sunday and I just couldn't get into the spirit, didn't really enjoy the meal and couldn't wait to get home.
I went to the hospital at 11. 15 to give my H his lunch and found myself very sharp with him which is not like me.
The Dr said she was coming to assess him but after waiting an hour and a quarter I just got a taxi and came home.
I got into bed and am still here. I have slept a lot today but coughed all night so got little then.
It is small beer compared to many other problems though, just not like me.
My very best wishes and prayers are with Synonymous and her DH for tomorrow.

To everyone else, it is not despite not to mention you, I can't scroll back far enough and my memory is failing.

It's a very late start for my venturing into our kitchen. And, as per, my mind boggles at the amount of visits that I need to read in due course.

I had a bad evening with serious pain int he pelvic area and "front passage"...it's a pain that strikes every so often and could be as a result of mesh used in a posterior/anterior repair (in a private hospital) that has not kept the records going back to 2003. GP saw me first thing. Another UTI and more antibiotics. It's an ongoing buggeration and it it may be sorted when I have "drop bot" procedure when I'm feeling stronger. It would have been today. Just too soon after breast surgery.

We then visited our pal in the care home. Did a little shop in Tesco, made an appointment for the hair do on Friday with my favourite stylist, returned home and as soon as we had made coffee, another friend called by to chat about his recent holiday. He has just this minute left. Hence, I'm still running late. I intend returning after lunch and a wee nap.

ann Rest...rest...rest. It's an order. Us lot care about your welfare. (((hugs)))

I love the short haircut on other people, but it doesn’t work for me. I have shoulder length hair, and friends say I look younger with this hair length and I’m all for that! Also I have thick hair, and as I’m absolutely useless at blow drying, I found for me, short hair was a lot more trouble. I usually leave it loose, but if I’m having a bad hair day, or if it’s hot, I can tie it back or put it in a bun.

soop, one of my cats once presented me with a completely uninjured and completely deceased mole. I thought it might have died of fright! I decided to bury it, with Sam, the cat, glaring at me as only an offended cat can glare. My dad waged a relentless war against moles in his vegetable garden. I think there was some kind of electronic device meant to deter the little black-coated fellows. The soil dug up and left in molehills is said to be of good quality and useful for potted plants if you have the patience to collect it.

My thoughts are with Mr and Mrs Synonymous and I too am wishing you wellness.

anno I know only too well what an offended cat glare looks like. Although, Rory was hardly ever peeved. A one-off, was Rory.

Anneliese, although I have lots of hair, it's fine. If the style doesn't suit, no big deal, I shall permit it to morph into something more to my liking.

I had a lie down and watched the birds having a wonderful time at the feeders. The sun was filtering through fresh green foliage. All very calming.

I have to away. So sorry for not spending more time with you lovely lot. As one ages, the time doesn't hang around
long enough to fit in all the day's stuff and wotsit.

Baggy update: colonoscopy went fine and all is well. They gave me proper tea (i.e. with milk) afterwards, which I haven't been able to have for two days, plus toast. Then I went to meet MrB and acquired another cup of tea in the hospital cafe plus a yogurt topped cranberry biscuity thing. Back home I've just polished off a bowl of custard into which I was dipping Rich Tea biscuits, plus more tea. Feeling almost normal again now. "Proper" food begins tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to my porridge in the morning.

Now I will have a look at other people's news...

Baggs I do sympathise! I’ve had 3 colonoscopies. Fortunately I don’t need to have any more as I’m lucky enough to be nearly 13 years down the line from bowel cancer. I just hate the low residue diet! Glad all went well.

Sorry you’ve more discomfort to manage soop, watching the birds was exactly the right thing to do.

Pleased your OK, baggs, I didn’t mind the ‘diet’ pre colonoscopy, did mind the dreadful stuff to drink.

Hope ann and n&g are listening to their bodies and resting, sometimes we just have to stop and mend.

The surgery still can’t get the physio assessment to confirm diagnosis so it’s a waiting game. We agreed to cancel my next GP appointment, it would be a waste of resources without the information she needs. Still need a [sigh] emoji but it could be worse, I can do most things I need to and the surgery staff are working hard on my behalf. Can’t ask for more just now.

The decorator has done well today, all efforts have passed quality inspection and harmony is restored. .

Well the weather has been awful, so cold after the lovely bright days we have had, however, lunch with a dear friend who is very sad at the moment has made the day brighter, and I think perhaps I cheered her up. PLUS I have been told by my energy supplier that my monthly direct debit will be reduced, as they forecast I will not be using so much fuel for the next few months. Now, what will I do with all that cash?

Baggs,so glad the colonoscopy went well.Have only had one but dread having to have another.

Well it has not been a particularly good afternoon. We went for a short walk and DH was attacked by a dog! We were crossing the bottom of a large field near our house when a woman came along with three bouncy dogs which were absolutely fine but she muttered about having “lost one”, and went on her way. After she had disappeared from sight, out of nowhere came this nasty snarling, barking creature who seemed intent on holding us at bay, while we frantically looked around for the owner who was nowhere to be seen. We are not afraid of dogs, but when we tried to walk away from it, it nipped DH on the back of his leg through his heavy moleskin trousers and carried on barking and snarling. It appeared to be wearing some kind of muzzle thing but it’s teeth still grazed and broke the skin. In desperation, DH threw a clod of earth at it (apologies to dog lovers but we were desperate!) and it ran off. I had a first aid kit in my waist bag so I cleaned it up the wound and put a dressing on it, as he refused to go home and let me take him to A&E. It looks clean at the moment but I’m keeping an eye on it. I can’t believe that any dog owner would turn its back on a dog like that and make no effort to control it. It could have been a child it attacked, and I fancy that had DH had lighter weight trousers on he would have come off even worse! I really wish we hadn’t gone out now.☹️

just arrived home after a quick visit to see baby Erin. She is a wee darlin', of course !. Had lovely cuddle and a nice blether with mum and dad. All in all a lovely visit. Had a busy few days so will catch up tomorrow.Very best wishes to all with troubles.

Thank you all for your kind messages, cards and emails, we are all ready now. Bag packed with a myriad of stuff which has been charged, cleaned and bagged. I expect there will be something I have missed, there always seems to be however hard you try!

My back is feeling much better and I am grateful to Himself for his rubbing in of the oils. It would have been nicer to have it smoothed on gently rather than a body scrub but beggars can't be choosers can they? I could not have done it for myself at all and really don't know how some of you manage on your own. Told Himself that is why I need him recovered fast and back home asap. He just laughed and said, "And all the rest too!" Can't stop hugging him.
He is going to bed shortly as we have an early start in the morning and I am praying we both sleep really well.
