Soops kitchen refuge for gentle ladies
(1001 Posts)Well as first for me. Opening a new kitchen full of light, love and support
Ha ! Charley , not only did he lose a pound but came home with a weetabix cake recipe and 6 farm eggs !! They even made him a cuppa!!
He is redeeming himself by waiting on me hand and foot ( and rightly so) .
Would you believe I had to cancel my dentist apt and as she is leaving at Easter I have to start again with a whole new consultation!! Earliest they can see me is May 28th !!!
N&G you did not mention if Mr. N&G was allowed out of the clutches of the other ladies at the slimming club yesterday or if you are caring for yourself on your own!!! I hope that is only one slice of cake you are having- your dentist will not approve.
Crikey ... took me so long to post between coughing and sneezing several other people posted about lengthy replies .
I must be in the few who doesn’t mind I guess. Maybe I’m a guilty party ?I’m not sure how you would stop it though?
Just popping in with germs .... not breathing on any of you lot though !!
Feel better soon Ann xx
Grey , I’m horrified to hear of your dog incident ! And MrGD s intransigence !!
I’m sorry to see Galens post , I can understand your concern but there has never been any judgement here ladies , not in the kitchen . I think the mix of ‘pop ins’ and longer posts works well.
No-one ( and I’m SURE I mean no-one) will/ would/ or could be offended by the kindness shown to one another here in the kitchen . I , personally , wouldn’t want a single one of you to change the way you are , you’re smart, funny, kind and caring women with a core of steel as you go about your daily lives .
I say post if you can , read if you can’t , be here in word or spirit . It’s where you all belong.
I am off back to my bed ! ( taking and cake that was on the side !! ) xx
Baggs you will be delighted to hear I will not be visiting your house anytime soon- but there again, look at the weight I could lose if offered custard frequently.
The tin of custard (famous brand, food of the gods) is now finished. It went well with almond and marmalade shortbread or do I mean they went well with it?
I'm doing a squash risotto for tea.
Feelingmyage I know exactly what you mean.
With regards to the loo, the minute someone mentions they want to go I am sure my bladder hears and hey ho all of a sudden I am desperate.
grannygravy you have made me want and egg and tomato sandwich so egg is boiling and so is kettle. Is it just me but if someone mentions something I want it to eg sandwich, cup of coffe or .................. the worst one, the loo.
Galen I applaud your saying what many of us have felt but haven’t dared to say.
The kitchen used to be a place where we could pop in, put our two pence worth and pop out again. These very long posts take too long to read, unless one has nothing else to do all day. I used to feel I ‘belonged’, but now feel like an outsider.
Good day to all kitcheners, right, I’m off now ?
Who is that smart lady carrying Hannah?!
All the very best for tomorrow- hopefully you have not had snow but there has been frost here in London. Somebody told me it was spring.
soop you need all the rest you can get for the ordeal (journey) tomorrow but more fish and chips. Relax and enjoy your meal out tonight.
Best wishes for tomorrow soop.
I am with Galen and Baggs, can never hope to keep up with everyone's comings and goings, but I do think of all those with troubles.
As a relative newbie, I thought these long posts were the done thing and didn’t want to offend. I feel happier to know this isn’t so, and won’t feel obliged to post unless I genuinely have something to say. I do feel it helps to be able to share problems with someone outside my family.
There’s been a lack of cake recently, so I’m happy to contribute a lemon drizzle!

Wolfie is wonderful. I would so love a cuddle.
Good afternoon kitcheners x
We have had our 2 & 4 yr old GC this morning, I am exhausted ?
Putting my feet up with an egg & tomato sandwich and a nice cappuccino ☕️???
Hoping you all make time for a rest also x
I have just returned from ironing duty. Tonight our friends are treating us to a meal 'because it's been a tough time lately'.
Hello Baggs, I am delighted that the procedure is over and done with. Keep dunking the biscuits.
I am excusing myself for much of this afternoon. Need to shower and hair wash in readiness for visit to oncologist at the Vale of Leven. Another early start. Trusting that the weather is kind-ish.
Sturdy babies are the best kitty, we had two, seeing one still has me melting. Hope Mr Lesters appointment goes well.
Lots of sensible thoughts here, thank you galen for beginning the process. Feels a bit of a relief.
Stay in bed ann, I’m sorry you feel so rough.
So far the decorating is without incident today, quality inspection has found nothing contentious, keep your fingers crossed for the afternoon.
.
Take care everyone.
I'm another who was pleased to see Galen and Baggs both voice comments about the long posts which seem to have become the norm. It is off putting if you just want a bit of chitchat and does then become a chore rather than a pleasure as it feels mandatory to join in the long list of good wishes!
ann has Molly taken pity and joined you? I am pleased to hear your son is looking after you but please remember you may have to give your doctor a call- like most of us you are not in your first flush of youth. H will be cared for.
I am sorry but my brain is beyond remembering what everybody is up to and also their individual buggerations. It is not deliberate, I wish everybody well.
I think that is a really sensible comment Galen. I haven't been posting much as I'm under the weather and find it daunting to post a lot of replies.
I really don't mind being 'ignored' unless there is something desperate or I've posted a photo of my absolutely adorable grandchildren.
ann, please do take care of yourself. The reason I've not been posting was something similar that has knocked me for 6. I feel 100 when I have to sit down in the afternoon and I don't have your added stress.
Hoping everyone with medical issues well and also those with other worries or buggerations. And please wish us well as the Idiot has resurfaced!
Galen baggs and others, thank you for raising a rather sensitive issue.
Although I visit frequently I rarely post nowadays. I follow and sympathise with all the health tribulations but know full well I could never keep up with every individual poster.
Therefore, rather than risk omitting and possibly upsetting folks, I decided it's more tactful to limit my posts.
I feel that the long missives addressing each and every one is quite a recent development and clearly is useful to those who receive and those who compose but it's beyond me. Like others, I prefer to pop in occasionally but feel that the good news snippets or minor concerns are not quite appropriate.
Sorry if this upsets anyone but it's something that has been bothering me for some time and it's reassuring to know I'm not alone in that.
Very best wishes to those coping with current health issues and acute problems.
Mamissimo
Good afternoon......my mains tap is leaking...the plumbers are circling...I’m sure I just saw a cowboy on a horse ride up to the front door! Hope everyone’s day is going in the right direction!
I have felt I couldn't just breeze into the Kitchen with a bit of chit-chat quite often. I will echo that, Baggs. I am sure that you, like me and there must be others, are sensitive to the difficulties others are facing and sometimes interposing a lighthearted bit of nonsense doesn’t seem at all appropriate. It doesn’t mean we don’t share the sorrow though.
