I have never heard N&G say an unkind or sarcastic thing to anyone shandi and I would be very surprised if that was the case now. galen has been part of this kitchen for a long long time and she will also be aware that we care for her too and value her company.

I apologise n&g i'm pleased to be corrected. It was the two exclamation marks that made me misread the sentence and yes I believe you are right that galen is shortly going on a cruise. I was just upset that her comments were being taken so wrongly, i will go back into my hidey hole now.

aggie I think that the comment by n&g was meant to be sarcastic, sadly. Many folk seem to be taking Galen's original post too seriously. I am sure she was trying to only highlight that many posters found it overwhelming to remember all the problems that our poor gransnetters are suffering at the moment and that it is okay to still be lighthearted. After all Galen has also reason to be devastated and probably needs to read fun items whilst still being sympathetic to all. I think the recipes are an attempt to pull the thread in a more general direction and possibly to take her mind off her sadness.

I cannot tell you how gobsmacked I am that some regular posters have been so uncaring to her at the very time she needs support.

Yes, i am a very infrequent poster but have been around for a few years so do feel entitled to say my piece.

No no galen we don’t want you to leave either. You meant nothing wrong and your thoughts were echoed by many others. You were just bringing up a point that others felt too. Please please don’t go. You bring so much humour to the kitchen and your presence is valued. Please stay.

megan I don’t think galen was suggesting that posts should be short merely that people should be able to post what they wanted (be it long or short) without feeling guilty about not mentioning/replying to all previous posters.
2 or 3 posts of recipes is fine if that’s what posters want to do and others are interested to join in.
This is a personal plea to panache. I remember your first posts panache and you have always posted replies and comments and kind thoughts to many in the kitchen. I for one would be very sad if you left the kitchen and I think your recent kitchen “party” shows how many of us care for you and enjoy your presence in the kitchen.
I think a misunderstanding has occurred. I don’t think anyone said that posts should be short just that people who only wanted to write short posts or just pop in with the odd comment or two should feel comfortable to do so without feeling the need to reply to all other posters.

What you need, N&G is the old tried and tested Yorkshire remedy of a potted meat poultice for your chest! I will send one down right away - but it only works if you eat fresh cream doughnuts at the same time, so I will send some of those too!?

Love the robin - I have two in my garden - they are so fierce they chase the wood pigeons away.

Pleased you almost have a plan Soop. I have a woman surgeon/consultant and a woman oncologist. Some how it seems appropriate.

So jealous that I missed cake Kitty et al but glad to say I have been discharged from the eye hospital! For five years they have monitored a strange mole on the inside of the eyeball in case it went malignant as moles can. Happily, it hasn’t changed in all that time and they don’t need to see me again. I think I may need a good tipple when I get back from choir - final rehearsal tonight.

Panache please don’t stop writing your lovely posts; everyone loves them. I am apt to want to drive a rather frivolous coach and horses through the kitchen sometimes and I am mindful that it is not always timely or appropriate, so I hope that I choose my moments.

I am posting photo of a little visitor we had this morning (no, not GS; he’s gone home clutching the latest batch of shortbread - chocolate chip. He will, I am sure, get around to another recipe before he breaks out in acne and refuses to move off the sofa!). Unlike The Boy, this one didn’t need encouraging to take a bath either!

Kitty, Dragonfly it must be the afternoon for meet-ups - 5 of us Essex GNs met up today, the time flew by as we nattered away. Four of us had met before and welcomed a new friend.

I try to keep up to date with everyone’s posts but sometimes when life gets busy,I may miss something but I really am TOYA.
