I'm trying to do just that. What works for you please?

For me today it will be less time on social media and a walk.

I open the hatch on my narrow boat home, feed the swans and just take in the movement of the water and I can't help feeling positive. Being positive comes from within....it is about smiling at people and caring about life and your environment..

Kalu, have She Shed envy, lucky you, I always wanted one , like you I would have a wicker chair, books , radio and my coffee maker and my crocheting , that would be my positive, happy place ,

I’m loving these! Really envious of moxeyns I’ve never yet seen one pair of boxing hares, never mind seven of them (was there a group of 3?!), despite living amidst many fields!

I love sitting in my sunroom to watch the sun set. There have been many spectacular sunsets recently. A deep, hot bath with scented bubbles usually cheers me up too.

Being by the sea.
Watching the birds making their nests.
Reading.
I don’t need money for any of these.

I'm a positive person - my mum called me a bloody Pollyanna - but if I'm down, after Dh, my grown up children are who I turn to. After that my lovely friend of over 40 years - we are a mutual support system.

Reading one of my favourite novels usually by Georgette Heyer. She captures the Georgian period so well.

Thanks for your comment deansway, food for thought indeed.

Gardening. I've been pottering in the garden all afternoon.
Have weeded, planted some broad beans, cleared a couple of veg beds, sorted out my little lean-to greenhouse. Gave DH some occupational therapy (he doesn't garden) sorting out last year's bird scarers made of wire and foil bun cases. Bliss!

Feeling a bit exhausted and negative today.Finding my job more and more tiring, and my very elderly mum is still refusing help and one the one hand telling me she can cope, then the next minute saying she is struggling.I seem to be in a permanent state of exasperation and guilt lately !
However I found my positive place this afternoon in our lovely garden.A couple of hours if tidying up with a robin for company.Very restorative.

The best thing is to see kind positive people, and get out if at all possible.

For you poor loves who are unable to contact Age Concern as they can arrange visitors to cheer you up.

Sending positivity to you all x

Yorkshiregirl Wed 20-Mar-19 18:35:43

Oh my goodness Grannymosh you poor love. I've been through breast cancer so I can sympathise. You've certainly been through it. Sending love x

Thanks for your good wishes, ladies. After 48 hours at home, I am already feeling more like my old self, amazing what cuddles from the little'uns can do! A week's decent food and sleep, and more medicinal cuddles, and I shall be well up for the surgery...so long as I can avoid the sniffles and coughs currently afflicting the family. If I absolutely HAVE to have it, then better this week than next, but I'd really prefer not to have it at all! Got to go to the dentist too...chemo and/or the rest has caused my gums to shrink, so 7000€-worth of dentistry done only 8 months ago is now useless and worthless! Thank God for insurance, eh?!

I made that decision in my 40s.
My OH calls them oxygen thieves. That might sound a bit harsh, but it's often true.

sodapop Wed 20-Mar-19 17:30:05

Gillybob I'm sorry you feel that way, you shouldn't, your posts have often given me cause to think, we don't always agree but nothing wrong with different points of view. You are unique in a such a good way, I value your comments and insights so you should too.
thanks and share a wine with me.

deanswaydolly Wed 20-Mar-19 17:13:00

David1968 Wed 20-Mar-19 16:39:14

Oh blue60. How I agree with you about "negative" people! (In my 60s I now avoid them, socially, because life is too short.) My positive place is all about having a happy time with others, or simply pottering about at home - on my own or with my lovely DH. (When I look at the stresses in the wider world, I feel so very, very, lucky.)

petra Wed 20-Mar-19 16:17:56

Merlotgran
What a wonderful positive outlook ♥️♥️♥️

gillybob Wed 20-Mar-19 16:09:05

Gillybob I suspect that your family thinks the sun shines out of you

You have got to be joking Jane10 I think they think I am a pain in the a*se who comes in useful . grin

Thinking about your DD's new "choppy" haircut Merlot I bet she looks fabulous . Great to try new and different make up colours (that maybe you never would have) too. I'm so glad you had a lovely morning together. smile

KatyK Wed 20-Mar-19 16:08:43

Oh yes the garden. It's a lovely day here. I've been in the garden today listening to the birds and sounds of the ducks on the canal. That's positive!

Scribbles Wed 20-Mar-19 16:06:30

My positive place is my back garden, surrounded by burgeoning spring growth and birdsong.

Gonegirl Wed 20-Mar-19 16:04:50

That's lovely merlot.
