Hopefully we'd vote REMAIN ... But if not so be it ...at least the vote would be clean ....and we'd have to live with it ...

Have heard on the news that the speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow has banned Theresa May from making a third attempt to get her deal passsed unless she makes substantial changes!! I don't see how she can though, because the EU have said no more negotiations.

We won a democratic vote to leave,whether it was a small or large majority it doesn’t matter,a majority is a majority.I just wish they would get on with it ,the question was Leave or stay .......nothing about a rubbish deal that nobody wants.May is trying to blackmailing the the MPs to vote for her deal .Its a disgrace.......we voted to leave & they should respect that.As for another referendum....how many do the Remainers want ........?Do we keep having referendums until they get the result they want???? ??????

Nandalot, it was largely my fears for the continuance of the GF agreement which caused me to vote to remain. That and the fact that if we are in dialogue with our European neighbours, there is less likelihood of there ever being a conflict like the previous wars on European soil.

I don't have any answers to your question, but I know we don't want 'the troubles' reignited.

The Government are discussing proroguing Parliament in order to avoid defeat. It means that as Bercow has rightly said TM cannot present the same unchanged plan this session, the Parliamentary session could end early, so that TM could bring back her plan in a new session.

This would involve the Queen proroguing Parliament and starting a new session when the PM could present her plan again. A bit like a session ending early for an election.

Would any leavers out there sugges what they would do about Ireland? To me this seems to be the main stumbling block to any referendum. What proposal would you suggest that would be in accordance with the Good Friday agreement and ensure continued peace?

Definitely no! We don't have the best of 3 when there's a general election. There should have been a cross party Brexit group from the off set rather than the shambles we're in now. Personally I think we should go for a no deal. I'm sure the EU will be more reasonable with negotiations once we're out. They have us over a barrel at the moment.

The other unspoken reason why the UK Government will not allow a 2nd referendum is that if they did they could not then, in all conscience, refuse a 2nd Scottish Independence Referendum.

Corbyn is now making ridiculous 'cake and eat it, with unicorns on top' kind of promises- which cannot and will not, ever be on the table. But many Labour supporters still believe in his 'long game' and the above cakism.

But Lilyflower, that is what Teresa May was seeking to do with her plan, only to be stopped by Bercow.

The Speaker allowed meaningful vote 2 because there had been renegotiation so the proposition had changed.

All sorts of undeliverable cake-and-eat-it promises were made before the 2016 referendum. No-one had any idea what brexit might entail. Now we do and so the proposition has changed for the People's Vote.

Why don't leavers want a confirming referendum?

Because that is not how democracy works. It is the opposite of democracy to repeat votes until the minority desired result is returned because people have been worn down.

I think if we had another one more people would change there minds and stay, think that’s why.

But people would then argue ad infinitum if the result was to remain - so there would have to be a third one - the best of three.

It’s a fiasco anyway.

I live in an EU country so obviously it is going to cause upheaval if (and I hope it is IF) we ever leave the EU …..not just for us, but anyone who has children who are studying at an EU university. What annoys me is that Teresa May keeps calling for ANOTHER vote on HER deal ...which cannot be legal …..and when we ask for a People's vote she denies this ...so where is the legal precedent for HER to keep asking for more and more votes until she gets her way ...strikes me it is HER that is going for best of three, or four, or as many as it takes her to get HER way …..is this democracy ??? no where have I ever heard of Remainers being asked for their opinion on any decisions ...the result of the referendum was very narrow given those that were able to vote (x pats not under the 15 year rule, young people who it will affect most, no vote...lies on the side of a BUS for heaven's sake …..is that how democracy decides what is best for the electorate !!!) beggars belief …..I blame egotistical Cameron who never thought he would lose...hes ok, thankyou !
