Selling on ebay

I have tried Gumtree and haven’t got on with it at all, it’s probably me, but i just got no interest put the item on eBay and off it went I just found it difficult to manoeuvre
Had more success on Marketplace for a local site

The bonus of using Gumtree is that it is local and free!

I sell regularly on ebay. I usual do a week's auction and just put the item back on if it doesn't sell. It is amazing how one week no-one will be interested in an item and two weeks later buyers are fighting to get it.

Do a detailed description and if there are any minor problems, the odd dent, an instruction book missing say so and photo any scratch or damage. You are more likely to get a buyer if you are honest than if you fudge any issues and the buyer takes exception to the item not being as described.

I sell on eBay The grandkids buy such expensive clothes and wear them for such a short period that they are too good to give away and gives them pocket money, also sold lots of stuff on Marketplace without any problems Work from the lowest price you would accept ( I always look at other adverts to get an idea of the going rate) and then if it goes up you get a nice surprise I only use 5 or 7 day auctions on eBay or I get impatient but things get relisted automatically

Have you tried putting it on your local area Gumtree or Preloved sites? Or if you are on FB they have Marketplace you could advertise it on.

I sell bits and bobs on eBay.
Start with a price you'd accept, making sure you state that buyer must collect, take reasonable photos, and do a good description.

You can review your listing all the way through the process, to see how it will look.
I find that certain items immediately have watchers, and others take weeks, sometimes.

I only do one week auctions, although there is various advice about longer ones being better (or worse - depending on what you read)

It's apparently better to list so that the auction finishes on a Sunday, as people are more likely to be around to bid, but I never worry too much about that.
If something is no longer needed, I'm happy for it to go to someone who wants it for a few pounds.

If you have bought previously on ebay, then you should be in a position to go on to sell. I presume it would be an item that would need collecting, I have found that sometimes when the item is for collection people do mess you around and rearrange. If you have a price that you are happy with, then you can sell for the fixed price, put it on for 30 days (it should be free to list) and just wait for a buyer. Always do the transaction thro ebay/paypal as this gives you more protection, but you can accept cash on collection. Pm me if you want any help, but basically a good few photos, a good description, a reasonable price (if auction rather than a buy it now, make sure you start with a minimum £ you would be happy with), you can add reserve prices etc, but those do incurr fees. I have sold on Ebay. For a large item like your bike (we sold a table) I would state what area you live in and stipulate that the buyer collects. Depending on how much you are asking for it, I would also ask for cash on collection.
