Good Morning Thursday

Oldgaijin I know how you must be feeling. 4 years ago my son and his family (GC 4 and 1) left UK for Hong Kong for 3 years, now they are coming towards end of 18 months in The Netherlands then heading to US this summer for who knows how long. See them about 3 times a year (more this last year). We do FaceTime but not that often and the kids are older and not always wanting to talk. Miss them all a great deal but lucky to have youngest daughter nearby and newish GD.

It's a grey, breezy damp sort of morning here. The sun tried bravely to make an appearance, but not for long.
Waiting in again for gas service engineer. After rearranging on Tuesday, after a no show, for Wednesday am, it was again a no show - except in a way it was - the engineer went to my neighbours house. She was out so he left a sorry I missed you card. The silly thing was, the card had my house number on it, but he posted it through my neighbours door, and I was in all the time. Grrr...
Anyway, third time lucky, as they say.

Taking dad to the hospital for a hip X-ray late morning. He’s 86y and in pain. We wonder if all those years of playing Crown green bowls has taken its toll, poor man.

What a miserable day here on the banks of the Mersey, rather blowy too. So glad I got all my shopping in yesterday.

Nothing planned for today as usual I just see how things pan out. D has very few days off from work and it's 2 weeks since I saw her for lunch but I've had to get used to it over the years. I suppose it's what gives me the oomph to remain independent.

Glad to hear that those who went to shows/theatres enjoyed themselves. I enjoyed the film MamaMia last August and found it quite emotional but lovely.

Hope the day goes to plan for everyone.

Good morning from a bright ne. Sorry tonneau about your Gd marydoll I have asthma quite bad and it's always worse I. Winter. My sons had it and have grown out of it later but my Dgdd has it and again it's history repeating. Thanks for mentioning the loraetadine nannyjn53 that's good to know about aldi. I use that. Off today going to see my mum in home not very well then food shop all go!

Sorry about your DGD's Asthma flare up Marydoll I hope it can be managed and she will hopefully grow out of it? I developed it in my 50's, and no-one had any idea why!

I have started suffering with sore eyes the last few years Sar53, and it has started earlier this year (usually April/May) I take Loratadine and you can buy a pack from Aldi for about 80p. They work just the same as the more expensive ones, for me anyway.

Had a lovely surprise outing last night with my great chum from NTS days...tea out then a showing in the library of 'Edie', played by Sheila Hancock. A great little film, filmed in Sutherland about an old lady who climbed Suilven...magnificent scenery.
Daughter starts out today from Bucks to head North with the dog, houseplants etc....she reckons she'll do the journey in a day. Their household goods went off yesterday. heading for Singapore, so their departure is imminent and I am a sad Mummy/Grandma.

So sorry to hear your DGD’s asthma has flared up again Marydoll it must be very scary for her. Is it something she might grow out of ? ( excuse my ignorance) I’m sure my DDiL had it as a child and grew out of it ?

Mamma Mia sounds great Mick my DGD’s and I I love the film, so would really enjoy the musical sing a long .

World book day outfit this year for DGD2 is Winnie the Pooh. Grampa’s suggestion of a bread roll and some lentils could be Roald Dhal went down like a lead ballon but with a giggle and oh Grampa!?

Good morning from a bright, sunny E. Northants. After an exhausting day of cleaning at great granddaughters house yesterday, I hardly slept a wink last night. Is there such a thing as being over tired? Friend visiting from Coventry today, although I feel more like going back to bed than entertaining. Have a pleasant day everyone!

It's a terrible condition, nearly killed me, as a newly wed at twenty one.
