When you're on this forum Rufus you can be anywhere you like. 
I am, even in New Zealand, 'up north' but I was welcoming someone to the discussion, in true Yorkshire style, which featured 'up north' even 'north of nowhere' if you like. 
I don't have a TV, never have, so am not up to commenting about it but Bradford had some fine architecture at one time, possibly still has.
As for the Yorkshire accents, I once remember my son calling me to watch something on his TV here in NZ, and laughing so hard.
It was a Yorkshire farmer talking about his life and there were subtitles for those whose ears were not atuned to the twang!!
