Good Morning Everyone,
Its a sort twilight morning this morning in brackley , dry but maybe a chill in the air.
The Chinese soup dish saga, I went into Sainsburys in Bicester and got a medium sized nibble dish not dissimilar to the soup bowl.
Tried it out last night it was great , the soup seem to taste better as well.
Mick

I dont often contribute to this thread but I follow it most days and love reading about what everyone is doing.I feel I have got to know quite a few of you and like to share in your good times and bad times. I also enjoy going to GN meet ups and have made some good friends from them. Tomorrow I am going to one in Guildford which I am really looking forward to.Carry on contributing.

You're right, NanKate, they have, haven't they and they've been unsuccessful! Onwards and upwards, united we stand!??

NanKate Sun 24-Feb-19 20:29:09

I agree with you 100% Mary. There is no obligation on you to join our friendly non threatening thread Tiggy. If you want argy bargy try joining one of the political threads.

From time to time we have contributors who try to sabotage this thread, none have succeeded so far.

Marydoll Sun 24-Feb-19 20:00:00

I quite enjoy the banality of this thread. It's a haven, a nonthreatening place, where I can hide from all the stresses and problems of my world at the moment.
Decent, gentle folk, who care about each other. smile.

boat Sun 24-Feb-19 19:46:49

Not taken that way Maw

boat Sun 24-Feb-19 19:28:20

Thanks Marydoll.

I haven't wanted to upset the dynamics of the thread by contributing but, just to fulfil expectations, I probably need to say that here in Nuneaton it was misty until about noon then the sun shone and it felt like it May. (Actually a bit worrying if you think about climate change) but that's not what this thread is for.

MawBroon Sun 24-Feb-19 19:23:07

Not directed at you boat smile

Marydoll Sun 24-Feb-19 19:13:46

boat, I haven't noticed you before on this thread (welcome), but loved your lion comment! smile

boat Sun 24-Feb-19 19:11:12

Oh Lord! At that rate I'll be there till Tuesday morning.

Better take the laptop with me so I can enjoy this thread (and non-expensive home made sandwiches and a flask).

MawBroon Sun 24-Feb-19 19:04:56

I don’t think it livened anything up TiggyW just highlighted how some people hate to see other people enjoying each other’s company.
Like when my little DGD broke up her big brothers’ jigsaw puzzle.
Choose your own naughty step - I understand one minute per year of age is the norm.

Was that the, "twiggyW", remark or the, "News and politics", one?

I am addicted to this thread and I'm not sure why. Do I really need to know that it's dark in Brackley or misty somewhere else? No but somehow it's all very reassuring.

kittylester Sun 24-Feb-19 18:15:15

Crikey, that's a bit extreme, boat! grin

boat Sun 24-Feb-19 18:04:22

Oh dear! TiggyW, in like a lion, out like a lion.

I read this thread because it is gentle, kind and soothing. Some of the contributors are a bit more acerbic on other threads.

If I wan't to be shaken up I can always read News and Politics.

TiggyW Sun 24-Feb-19 17:05:58

At least it livened up the discussion a bit! ? ??
By the way, the weather here has been sunny and warm. I’ve done some washing, vacuumed, been shopping, now fitting a dashcam in my car.
If that has cheered someone up, I’m genuinely pleased; I can’t say it would do much for me though.
I’ll leave you all to it.

RosieLeah Sun 24-Feb-19 16:50:52

It's always reassuring to know that everyone else has to deal with the mundane.

Gosh, I'm late today! The schools in South Notts have been off a week already and have an inset day - they go back on either Tuesday or Wednesday. It was rather foggy earlier this morning but when it lifted the sun came out which was lovely. I can see my miniature daffodils at the end of the garden which are cheering.
This thread is meant to be all about trivialities Tiggy and we like to be uplifting.

Mapleleaf Sun 24-Feb-19 15:20:06

Just remembered, the schools have broken up!

aggie Sun 24-Feb-19 15:20:01

I like to hear what the weather is in other areas , i would need a b....y big window to see as far as this thread takes us wink

Mapleleaf Sun 24-Feb-19 15:19:18

TiggyW, this thread is obviously not for you. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of general chit chat, but if you dislike it so much, well, you know what to do!

eilyann Sun 24-Feb-19 15:15:12

Wow TiggyW Patronising or what? You remind me of people who complain of televion programmes they've watched without realising there IS an off button!

TiggyW Sun 24-Feb-19 15:12:40

kittylester Marydoll
I read this thread out of curiosity; I appreciate that it might provide interaction for someone who is lonely or housebound, but a bit of intelligent conversation would help! Sorry, but I can’t understand why anyone wants to discuss housework! ?

Marydoll Sun 24-Feb-19 14:52:03

TiggyW unlike yourself, there are posters who are housebound or lonely, for them, these posts are an opportunity to having some social interaction, albeit virtual.
Why come on and spoil what is normally a pleasant thread?
I don't recall seeing anywhere, that reading ALL threads is requirement of being a member of Gransnet. You actually don't have to read the thread.

grannysue05 Sun 24-Feb-19 14:32:13

Gettingitrightoneday As Maw is currently dog walking in Salcey Forest this afternoon, can I help?
Plain means a flat treeless area of land. Plane usually refers to an airplane or that tool used in wood carving.

kittylester Sun 24-Feb-19 14:31:13

Well obviously you don't tiggy.confused

TiggyW Sun 24-Feb-19 14:19:40

Sorry, but these threads are making me lose the will to live! Is there a point to them??? Why would I want to know about someone else’s baking/washing/knitting, etc? It reminds me of women discussing their housework over the garden wall - do they want a medal? (They’ll be a long time waiting!)
If I want to know what the weather is like I can look out of the window.
I’m afraid I’ve got more important things to do.
