Just a flying visit because I read your post Callgirl .

I totally understand as I am the same and had several teeth removed under general anaesthetic when I was younger rather than have fillings I was so terrified.

I have some serious work to be done in a couple of weeks, totally unavoidable so I just have to suck it up but it hangs over me every day.

Its probably too late but you can get something from the GP for the anxiety which might help but I'll hold your hand if you hold mine.

Id face giant spiders before choosing the dentist xx

dragonfly, the cats and I keep DH around for just such an eventuality!! He responds very well to shrieks of terror!

I'm sure Monday can't come quickly enough Marydoll, I hope something is done for your dgd very quickly.

I should point out that in one of the photos of Bertie he is 'biting down' on a cotton wool roll. Apparently the tooth fairy was very generous and Pa, had rashly promised to match whatever she left!

I drove DH home from holiday once straight after he had had a pin in his hip after falling playing badminton. We had a friend of DD3 with us in the car and I think he helped educate her with a wide range of previously unheard swear words.

Hello the kitchen. We must have had a power outage during the night - the second in twenty four hours. Our smoke alarm reset itself with a loud bleep at 5.15, but the bedside clock said 12.03. Must be Gareth!

Kitty what a shame Bertie lost those teeth. Please assure him he will soon have better ones and it hasn’t spoiled his good looks in the least!

Callgirl Max is growing at a rate of knots and looks to be quite the trencherman! Hope you get your dental problem sorted out. I think you’re right that women are more sanguine about facing childbirth than the dentist!

As with Mary, MacS has been much on my mind since yesterday. The journey he has is like DH driving down to Wales and back in a day, and even doing that one way takes a whole lot out of him these days. I know he’ll know the roads like the back of his hand, but he will no doubt be anxious about how comfortable Soop is going to be on the way home. I drove DH home after surgery a few years ago. It only took an hour, but I was a nervous wreck after it. Every little pothole in the road felt like a crater. ?? for their safe journey home.
I will look in later.

We have DGD again today, all plans cancelled! I will be glad when her hospital appointment on Monday comes and she gets some respite from the dreadful barking cough.

And, I've just gone downstairs to find the kitten playing with a mouse in the dining room!!!

There are no general anaesthetics in general dental surgeries now callgirl. Your best bet is probably to contact your local Healthwatch and talk to them. Explain that you are in pain and anxious and ask their advice. I hope you get something sorted out quickly. Or look on the NHS website where there will be a list of dentists and the services they offer.

Bertie had two teeth out yesterday. You may remember he fell off the climbing frame and dislodged them. It was hoped that he would be able keep them for longer but they were causing him too much trouble. I'll include a photo. Apparently he didn't cry much.

Max is delightful callgirl, lovely little boy. We spent time with our Littlest today, stopped me fretting about family ‘stuff’ for a while. These little ones don’t know how valuable they are in all sorts of ways.

Callgitl I used to have intravenous Valium for extractions and was not aware of anything. I can deal with all things dental these days as my current dentist is very gentle and dentistry has improved greatly from the bad old days when my NHS dentist fitted as many patients in as possible. If you can get sedation, do go for it.
Corner the Northern Lights picture is wonderful. Lucky you. I love Norway, but have only been there in summer.

Good luck for the dental treatment callgirl, I think I’m going to have to go again myself. My repaired filling niggles on and shock horror when I looked in the mirror yesterday and noticed one of my front teeth has a jagged edge - who knows how that happened!

I think the same as Nellimoser it’s lovely and comforting in soops kitchen with its wall-to-wall kindness.

As a relative newbie in here myself, I don’t feel I know you well enough to presume individual ‘good wishes’ but I would like to say I hope things get easier soon for all of you with health anxiety in the family. x

Thank you Bags so good to hear that all went well for Soop The last lap now is the long tiring journey home for Soopand Mac which I hope isn’t too arduous and they can think of getting nearer, mile by mile to their welcoming home.

I do understand callgirl. Talk to your dental surgeon, maybe try to speak on the phone before you go. Explain how you feel. He/she won’t laugh, you are far from alone and dentists are well used to supporting anxious patients. I was once advised by a dentist that ibuprofen and a large glass of wine will deal with dental discomfort. Worth a try?

Callgirl,I too have a fear of the dentist but when I had a tooth extraction this time last year,I was more in shock at how quick and straightforward it was???

I`m still not reassured about going to the dentist. I want to be put to sleep, because I`m a coward. The last time I had a tooth out I didn`t feel it, but I jumped as soon as I heard the crunch, and the tooth snapped in half! It also flipping hurts when the effects of the needle wear off. I`m SCARED!! I`d rather give birth than go to a dentist!
I hope that Soop does get home tomorrow, poor MacS will need a rest then after all that driving.

Please don’t worry callgirl, my wisdom tooth removal recently was painless and quick. I was offered sedation which apparently ensures little or no memory of the process. I didn’t choose to accept it but I’m sure it would be available if you needed it.

I’m sure soop will feel much happier in her own home with the lovely, familiar views from the window, and hopefully news from McS that the latest feline supper has again been eaten. That will cheer her no end.
