to continue where we left off......

I understand the anger being expressed towards SB. I see that Savid Javid has consulted his lawyers who say it’s possible to revoke her citizenship. There will be ‘law’ in this and I’ll be surprised if the decision to revoke citizenship will be revoked, countries that breach international law, or rewrite law to suit an unusual case are usually starting down a s,ippery path.
She should return face whatever investigations and due processes in law that exist,

EllanVannin Fri 22-Feb-19 09:06:42

Me too GG. What a sacrifice those young airmen made.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Feb-19 09:03:14

EV “The Tony story” brought tears to my eyes when I first heard him, I am in pieces watching the BBC coverage this morning.

PECS Fri 22-Feb-19 09:02:59

I am sure that is the last thing that will happen. If she is brought to UK she will face various charges and serve a prison sentence as she has no defence. The publicity that is now focussed on her will ensure that the full weight of the law is carried out and an example made it of her.

Stirring up more hatred by using dubious rt wing tabloid press headlines is unnecessary. She is hated already.

EllanVannin Fri 22-Feb-19 08:59:45

Having just watched " Tony " and his flypast puts things into perspective regarding THIS person ! No comparison.

Oldwoman70 Fri 22-Feb-19 08:58:07

I think she probably will be allowed back into UK (which other country would want her). If she enjoyed living under Sharia law so much why doesn't she apply to move to a country where it operates?

She still hasn't expressed sympathy or remorse for those innocents who died in attacks perpetrated by the organisation she supports and I think she would attempt to persuade other young people to her beliefs.

She says she wants her child raised in UK then why doesn't she hand him over to her parents for them to raise.

gillybob Fri 22-Feb-19 08:49:12

My guess is she will be back whether we want her or not . She will be offered newspaper interviews and a book deal and will undoubtedly appear on one of the morning shows . All this while nicely settled in her new home .

Chewbacca Thu 21-Feb-19 22:55:29

Well, she's running out of options. Bangladesh has said that they don't want her under any circumstances. Her husband's country have said that they won't have her either; with or without her child and husband. The majority of the UK don't want her. What's the betting that, as the days go by and she realises what a pickle she's got herself into; she'll recant on IS and have a total change of stance? Who'd be in her shoes?

Anja Thu 21-Feb-19 22:50:58

But not the head surely?

Anniebach Thu 21-Feb-19 22:45:39

I agree on the swaddling , I swaddled my babies after birth,

Badenkate Thu 21-Feb-19 22:44:34

However much we all may abhor the attitude and actions of this girl, the fact remains that it is against international law to make someone stateless, which is the situation if her British nationality is removed.
I think we all should consider very carefully if we want to go down the path of disregarding laws because they present us with unpleasant consequences

petra Thu 21-Feb-19 22:35:03

Has she never heard the saying when in a hole, stop digging

trisher Thu 21-Feb-19 22:34:56

Those who are castigating this young woman on every aspect of her life should look at what happens to child soldiers, her experiences are very similar. Of course she went voluntarily but she was 15 and therefore a child. She was then exposed to levels of violence few adults could survive without trauma. So all of her comments could be the result of what she has witnessed. It would take a great deal more investigation to know exactly what her real views are and what is a result of damage. As for the baby and it not moving. Culturally babies in that area are usually swaddled- wrapped very tightly in cloths. The theory is it makes the child feel safer. My mother could do something similar with a shawl, when she wrapped a baby in it, it stayed wrapped. I never managed to master it. When I did it the child always managed to get an arm free.

Anniebach Thu 21-Feb-19 22:13:59

She will be comforted by Corbyn’s statement

His views on human rights tend to change depending who the human being is.

M0nica Thu 21-Feb-19 21:33:43

Mycatisahacker, my turn to entirely agree with you.

To misquote a rhyme about George IV's wife.

Shamima Begum we you implore
to go away and speak no more
But if that effort be to great
To go away at any rate.

PECS Thu 21-Feb-19 21:30:02

I too feel utter disbelief and confusion at her choices, apparent attitudes and general demeanour. Her seeming dismissal of the horrors carried out in the name if ISIS is shocking.

I have no idea what is the safest way to deal with this young woman and her child. Instinctively I think she should return and face whatever laws are applicable. She needs to face the legal consequences of her actions. She is already experiencing the emotional, personal and physical consequences. I suspect the enormity is just beginning to dawn.

Once you start dehumanising the 'enemy' you are in danger of brutalising yourself. She is still a human being. She seems to have been able to think of other s as less than human. I do not want to be like her.
.

Mycatisahacker Thu 21-Feb-19 21:03:07

EllanVannin Thu 21-Feb-19 20:54:33

I'm with you there Mycat.

I wonder if she ever hugs that " baby ?"

Mycatisahacker Thu 21-Feb-19 20:37:23

X post chew

Mycatisahacker Thu 21-Feb-19 20:36:45

Do you know what I am sick to death of her!!!

Seriously I couldn’t give one fuck what happens to her.

My heart does to all the beautiful young girls, boys and parents killed in Manchester, London, Paris, Berlin, Tunisia etc. Sod her just sod her.

Chewbacca Thu 21-Feb-19 20:33:30

1 hour ago on Sky News:

"^She told Sky News she wants British politicians to re-evaluate her^ case with 'more mercy in their hearts'.

Would that be the same amount of mercy that SB and her IS chums showed the Manchester Arena victims? Parsons Green victims? Bataclan victims? The hundreds of innocent people who were beheaded?

Jalima1108 Thu 21-Feb-19 20:08:53

She is not a hostage. She did not go there as a missionary/reporter/aid worker to help people.

The camp itself is run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
so she is OK to be left there pro tem.

Chewbacca Thu 21-Feb-19 20:08:23

My heart bleeds for her Jalima. Not.

Jalima1108 Thu 21-Feb-19 20:06:39

I have a video of a woman sent to me by a friend, trying to bake bread for her children over a fire of sticks in a refugee camp - this is what Shamima Begum and her like have brought to these people.
Not to forget Assad and his campaign against his own people of course.

I doubt that 15 years of being brought up in the UK has given her any idea of how to make and bake bread over a fire.

M0nica Thu 21-Feb-19 20:04:45

If she came back I am sure when she first came out of Syria she would be offered a medical in case she needed treatment for any medical condition. It always happens to those coming out of hostage situations - John Waite, John McCarthy - she would be no different. A medical would show whether she had recently given birth and a the baby would almost certainly be given a DNA test. She has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose by any pretence at this stage.

And lets face it, what would anyone have to gain by it? She is just one of about a dozen British ISIS wives there. She is only in the news because she spoke to the Times reporter. I expect that any of the British brides would have been as useful to him . He was looking for a story and needed an English speaking refugee. I doubt if he cared who she was.

She is of no propaganda value, that has clearly been shown over the last week with all the stupid counterproductive statements this silly woman has made and no monetary value either. The camp itself is run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and ISIS has no value for women anyway, they are expendable, they have no interest in her.
