Pneumonia vaccination

The failure of the OP to come back to this thread came to mind when reading about in increase in the incidence of measles in certain parts of the US, because the proportion of unvaccinated children was rising towards 10%.

It was suggested that the Russian government was
financing the spread of anti-vaccine propaganda as part of a policy of causing suspicion and unease of modern medical practice as a way of encouraging the destabilising of society and increasing conspiracy theories.

Is that what Dougaldog was doing here? If so, it didn't work very well.

I had this several years ago one Thursday morning along with the flu injection, by lunchtime I had come up in in huge blotches all over my body.

I went back to the surgery but they were closed so I went to the local emergency medical centre who treated me and there were no further problems. They expressed surprise that I had had both injections in the same arm.

Is this logical? Perhaps we should just not have both injections at the same time.

I have not had pneumonia since nor before so I can't tell what would have happened if I hadn't had the injection but better safe than sorry. Go for it!

I had pneumonia jab along with annual flu vaccination a couple of years ago with no side effects at all. I was told pneumonia one was once only. No effects from the shingles one either which was given earlier than normal as in my life I have had several bad bouts of shingles.

Both my husband and I had it with no side effects.

So Dougaldog do you feel any better about it now it seems nearly all of us who had the jab had no side effects have we put your mind at rest

Ive chronic asthma and was advised to have it as you only have it once. No side effects whatsoever. My mother in law died with pneumonia a year ago tomorrow was awful to watch.

I had the pneumonia vaccination 2 years ago along with the flu jab. Experienced no side effects what so ever,I recommend everyone to take up the offer prevention is better than cure! I shall be 70 in a few weeks when hopefully I'll be offered the Shingles jab!

It's some years ago now since I had the pneumonia jab but I'm not sure if it's a life one or a 10 year touch.

There was talk years ago of scrapping it because apparently it doesn't give the protection that it was meant for with many people still losing their lives. Or was it all about the £100 million that it had cost ? So £20 per patient isn't worth spending ??

I had this a few years ago. Absolutely no issues afterwards.

Had it with flu jab- no problem at all.

I had mine a fortnight ago. The nurse said I might feel a little unwell in a couple of weeks later but it's not pneumonia. I started with a cold last week but that's the only after effect. Definitely recommend having it done.

There are no side effects, at least not for me.

Don’t be a baby. Have it, or maybe risk pneumonia.

It’s a no brainier, really.

Of course this is only 50-70% affective.

Seventeen posters so far with no effects, one with a slightly sore arm, one with a painful arm neck and shoulder (who is not sure it had anything to do with the vaccination)

Everyone says you should get it - or would you really rather be hospitalised with pneumonia and possibly die of it?

No problems when I had it either. Get it.

No side effects for me either. Far better a sore arm than pneumonia.

Husband and I had it a couple of years ago alongside flu vaccine. Slightly sore arm for a couple of days but could have been either jab that caused it. As it is a once in a lifetime only vaccine, surely it’s worth the risk of a sore arm.

I had it some years ago. I don’t recall any side effects. Just get it done, dougaldog.

Same here - had it & no problems. Pneumonia is awful - be as well-inoculated as possible is my advice.

My son had his in November [ due to low immune system ] along side the flu vaccination. No side effects from either.

DH and I have had it without effect.

Even if there are mild side effects, it is better than the alternative - a bad attack of pneumonia that could kill you.

I had the vaccine a few years ago and no side effects but like others, I do not look for any.
