No thank you to a President - we have not got one MP in Parliament who thinks of the country first - all too busy puffing up their own egos. Theresa May never stood a chance amongst this crowd of wannabes. Every president in every country has been too busy lining their own pockets to give any consideration to the people. I'll stay with the Queen and our Royal Family - they are worth every penny.
Continuity? Why not go the way of Italy and make the choice every year or so? We might have 27 different political parties as well to make it even more fun.
I think my son would do a good job. He's 20 with learning disabilities but while he can hardly read he has a sensible head and probabaly knows more about politics than me!! Of course he would need a trusty aide to help him read all the legal documents so I nominate myself for that!!
Maryeliza, you sound a very complicate and serious lady ! As I imagine this is not going to happen and this is generally a lighthearted discussion we don’t need to get too deep about it.
I'd like to add that the Welsh flag is perfect and it would be impossible to improve on it! As for saluting any British flag in the morning as someone proposed, perish the thought!
Nanawind I could job share with you as I can do Saturdays and Tuesdays and after 4.oo on a Wednesday if there is nothing good on TV and its not snowing. Also I am Welsh, with a bit of Irish in me but live in England and going to Scotland for my holidays. This is still more than our MPs do now.
There's so much to be angry and shouty about, Chewbacca, and I empathise with Paddyann. We already have a so-called non-political very expensive head of state. A president would have to have party affiliation and it's hard to come up up with a suitable living candidate, apart from me or my 10 year-old grandson.
What? Do you mean like the Blairs? Or model it on the US system that gave the world Donald Trump or perhaps just restrict it to the Euro model headed up by Jean-Claude Juncker and his cronies? No thanks!
I'll volunteer but not on Saturday and Sundays, Monday is also out as that's washing day, Tuesdays I see my daughter, Thursday is market day and Friday well it's Friday. That leaves Wednesday but want to finish at 4pm and not do every 5th as I have my hair and nails done. I was born in England, grandparents on mothers side are Irish and on my fathers side are Scottish, DH has a bit of Welsh. I'm not political will you vote for me.
