Forget the Windsors, who would you choose for President?

Shizam Tue 19-Feb-19 19:52:03

Sandi Toksvig. She talks sense, is funny, intelligent and has set up the admirable Women’s Equality Party.

Martin Lewis from MoneysavingExpert.

"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies."

Paddyann is open about her hatred of the Windsors dorcas, it’s expected any time there is mention of them.

dorcas1950 Tue 19-Feb-19 19:24:41

Paddyann. Why always so aggressive?

Culag Tue 19-Feb-19 18:52:18

Adam Rutherford, Jim Al-Khalili, or better still Alice Roberts.

Must be apolitical, Male or Female ,

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:31:05

To all who keep suggesting people for other, government jobs, I thought we were only suggesting a President - a non-political one too!

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:30:04

That of course is part of aging , holding onto what you know
From what you've said, you're no spring chicken yourself paddyann, or are you an infiltrator from Mumsnet?

Nanna58 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:21:55

Not Robert Winston! The joke in my family is that every time I see him I get pregnant as he was my fertility consultant. If he was president he’d be on the telly all the time , then God knows how many sprogs I’d turn out!??

LuckyFour

Tony Blair! Controversial I know but I loved him then and still love him now.

? PLEASE NO!

GabriellaG54 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:11:37

I read that Derek 'Degsy' Hatton has been welcomed back into the fold after decades in the wilderness. hmm

GabriellaG54 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:08:03

Dawn French...that obnoxious b@$:#& ?

GabriellaG54 Tue 19-Feb-19 18:06:25

I hope we never need a President. I like the arrangement that we have now.

GabriellaG54 Tue 19-Feb-19 17:58:07

ME
? ? ???

Anniebach Tue 19-Feb-19 17:54:43

Must be British, no criminal record even speeding. Must accept entertaining other heads of state , even Trump !

Definitely never made a film with knickers on display , not a comedian, may have made a smutty joke. Never given an interview to press with personal info.

Regardless of political beliefs must not have criticise anyone’s political beliefs .

Does this make it easier ?

netflixfan Tue 19-Feb-19 17:38:52

I wish Victoria Wood was still here.

BlueBelle Tue 19-Feb-19 17:04:13

I think Caroline Lucas is a very level headed lady

Seakay Tue 19-Feb-19 16:56:43

RosieLeah rather like the Third Reich - laws changed but as long as you could keep up you were fine - unless the military establishment had no use for you (old, crippled, mentally ill, practising Christian, Jehovah's Witness, homosexual, Jew etc) But that Hitler Youth - weren't they fab? Camping and folksongs and learning to spy on their families and friends - just makes you all nostalgic doesn't it?

Day6 Tue 19-Feb-19 16:24:45

I dont hold out much hope though as so many of you think Lizzie walks on water and you will never vote for change .That of course is part of aging ,holding onto what you know

Ooooh. That is very patronising Paddyann

Just because we age doesn't mean we all lose our capcity to think and hold opinions.

Remember, this generation going into old age may well be the most liberated, educated, informed and outspoken bunch of oldies there has ever been.

You write us all off as not appreciating the changes we have lived through. Not nice.

I'd like a younger Morgan Freeman to represent us. He'd be good and fair I think. grin Or the late great Robin Williams.

I am trying to think of someone younger and still alive with some stature who seems wise and fair.

NormaF Tue 19-Feb-19 16:13:45

Bill Nighy or if we can have a foreigner, Tom Hanks.

Anniebach Tue 19-Feb-19 15:32:21

Sorry wrong thread

CaroleAnne Tue 19-Feb-19 15:30:34

David Milliband and myself I think would be a good combination!

Nanawind Tue 19-Feb-19 15:28:27

Jalima1108 yes you can bring your DGD, she can be in charge of playgrounds whilst wearing her tiara.

But I've changed my mind as my walking club are switching days to wednesday from July. Oh well it's a good job it's not real.
