Forget the Windsors, who would you choose for President?

Anniebach Mon 18-Feb-19 16:40:22

Gonegirl slight problem, she is German

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 16:41:23

and she is very political!!

PECS Mon 18-Feb-19 16:41:23

She'd only get 48% of the vote wink

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 16:41:54

I just cbb with another election.

Honestly!

janeainsworth Mon 18-Feb-19 16:45:50

Here is HM The Queen looking very apolitical at the State Opening of Parliament grin

RosieLeah Mon 18-Feb-19 16:49:45

OK....best forget it.....what we need is someone who will put the country first..but everyone seems to have their own personal agenda. Why don't we just split the country into sections, each with its own laws and standards, and we can all move to whichever section suits us best (after all, that's how Britain used to be before the Romans arrived).

Well after enduring a long year campaigning.
Trump would probably run as he has a scots mother.
Farage could be vice president.
With Katie whats her face as Secretary of state.
Whats not to like?.

Btw annie Would we still retain the job of PM or just get shut, while we are at it.

An alternative would be to DNA everyone in the UK to find a descendant of Cromwell to become the First President of
The Republic of the Former United Kingdom

New Republican Anthem Entries on a postcard please.

School children should be invited to design new flags. (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Cornwall etc)
After all they will be the ones saluting it every morning.?

PECS Mon 18-Feb-19 17:10:43

RosieLeah isn't that why there have been so many civil wars, death and destruction hmm

Gonegirl Mon 18-Feb-19 17:13:00

Janeainsworth and yet now they're reporting that she is in the leave camp!

Who knows really. (I would love to know though)

RosieLeah Mon 18-Feb-19 17:13:36

It's human nature, PECS...people will always find something to fight about.

Gonegirl Mon 18-Feb-19 17:14:09

That doesn't matter Anniebach! She's nice. ?

Anniebach Mon 18-Feb-19 17:18:55

Cherry. Wales has a National Anthem ?

We have to have a PM , the president will be apolitical.

My posts giving opinions on names put forward are not my views but the views of republicans which have been posted on this forum

As for your list, Trump, Farage and Katie what’s her face ?
why not

janeainsworth Mon 18-Feb-19 17:21:31

Gonegirl I suspect that like many of us, HM is at heart a Remainer, but now just wants the whole mess sorting out as quickly as possible.
I’d love to know too though!

Anniebach Mon 18-Feb-19 17:49:56

Gonegirl I agree , she is nice

mcem Mon 18-Feb-19 20:11:19

rosie it's clear that many Scots would welcome your solution but we don't need a new flag, being happy with the Saltire.

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 20:18:42

I don's think she is partisan!
And tartan too, occasionally

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 20:19:30

I vote for Huw Edwards

Anniebach Mon 18-Feb-19 20:45:23

Good choice Jalima. ?

SueDonim Mon 18-Feb-19 20:58:35

Julie Andrews.

Than we can all go round singing 'Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...' and everyone will be happy, lalala! grin

JackyB Mon 18-Feb-19 21:49:36

Stephen Fry

grumppa Mon 18-Feb-19 22:06:24

What would the president be for? If he/she was just to act as ceremonial head of state, launch ships, declare things open, etc., who would want the job before they were in advanced old age? If it was to be political in any meaningful way, bang would go the sovereignty of Parliament, and party politics would become involved.

Alex Ferguson?

Anniebach Mon 18-Feb-19 22:09:02

grummpa it’s what the republicans want

Alex Ferguson ?

Chewbacca Mon 18-Feb-19 22:57:45

Why is paddyann always so angry and shouty all the time? hmm

Alan Sugar? Good for industry?

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 22:59:12

Good choice Jalima.
he's got such a lovely voice Anniebach smile
and he always seems a steady sort of chap.

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Feb-19 23:00:12

Alex Ferguson?
grin
he would be chewing gum at ceremonial occasions
