We were offered the chance to pay extra for a 'superb' tiler instead of a 'good' one when we had the kitchen done. Assured the sockets would all be centred in the middle of tiles, and everything balanced. We paid the extra, but strangely he seemed unvailable when it came to do the job, and we have sockets crossing grout lines and odd cut tiles at edges. Basically we had the builder from hell on so many fronts, but you do learn not to notice, except occasionally, as time goes by.
My mother and grandmother used to fight over the towels in the bathroom. They never said anything to each other, but each time they went in ( we lived together) they would change them or change them back. My mother liked them folded once, hanging long, and my grandmother liked them folded twice, draped over the rail. It got to the stage that my mother would insert safety pins to hold them in place, and come back to find they have been refolded, and re-pinned. And yet they never said a word to each other!!!
