Nowhere that isn't shared elsewhere on gransnet, and nobody to tell, but I have just had a surreal experience.
I can't tell, not because it would possibly identify me, but out of respect for the people involved. sad

Keep your chin up MissA
Sounds like a physical rather than ‘spiritual’ happening during the night.Only say what you want to say on an open forum.

NanTheWiser Sun 17-Feb-19 12:45:56

flowers from me, hope you're OK.

I hope in the clear light of day you can feel differently about your horrid and frightening experience MissA.Strange happenings are very unsettling, so maybe talking with your neighbour and unloading the tale will help a little.

I do hope your DGS is feeling better soon and that you can put your feet up today and rest.

Sending kind thoughts.....

I've only just caught up with this thread but I hope you're both feeling better now MissA, your grandson from the sickness bug and you from your frightening experience flowers

It's awful to have a sickness bug, just when you've settled down to sleep again along comes another throwing up session but at least they only last for a few hours.

Sometimes there seems to be no rational explanation for things that happen particularly in the small hours when everything seems worse but we can start to process them when daytime comes. I hope you're getting over whatever it was flowers

You may not be religious but sometimes we can reach for a prayer which may be of comfort through habit or ritual and one which I thought of yesterday, coincidentally, which I have not said or thought of for years:

“Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord, and by thy great mercy, defend us from all perils and dangers of this night.”

I'm picking bits of scrambled egg and ham out of my washing machine as we speak, mcem. smile
I'm ok thank you.
I shall tell my neighbour all about it as soon as she knocks *looks at watch* which will be soon.

mcem Sun 17-Feb-19 10:27:42

MissA you've shared several serious life-events on GN and seem to have derived some comfort. I sincerely hope you cope as well with this incident as you have with earlier issues.
You seem to be a strong and resilient woman and I'm sure you'll deal with this as soon as you get over the initial shock.
Hope GS is better soon and you don't have more heaps of laundry!

MissAdventure Sun 17-Feb-19 10:18:24

Thank you all; you're all so kind.
It wasn't my mind, it was a very real situation, but not one I'm hoping to have to face ever again.
You really are a kind lot! smile
P.S grandson spent the rest of the night throwing up.
I think there is a bug around.

Mycatisahacker Sun 17-Feb-19 10:04:49

Hope you both feel better soon flowers

Oh my..hope you managed some rest and both you and DGS are feeling better. Disturbed sleep is often worse than no sleep..in those few moments between wake sleep our senses and visions can be very vivid and confusing. Hope daylight has bought respite.

gillybob Sun 17-Feb-19 09:48:22

So sorry you have had an upsetting experience MissA . Our minds often play the most awful tricks on us don’t they ? I hope you are able to try and make some sense of it all in the daylight hours .

My eldest granddaughter had that awful sickness bug last week too, it lasted 4 days . I bet your poor grandson is feeling quite miserable . Hope he feels better soon .

Urmstongran Sun 17-Feb-19 09:36:43

Oh MissA you must be feeling so frightened and emotionally drained this morning. Plus your grandson who lives with you is poorly. I hope your mind accepts soon that last night wasn’t ‘real’ and that you both feel better soon. Xx

Maggiemaybe Sun 17-Feb-19 09:35:01

I hope you and your boy managed to get some rest and are feeling better today, MissA. flowers

Cherrytree59 Sun 17-Feb-19 09:32:19

MissA hope you and your grandson are ok this morning.
I also hope in the cold light of day you are able to think through your experience and put it
some kind of perspective that elevates the jitters

Nightime can be an
unearthly time especially when sickness/illness is involved.?

Bathsheba Sun 17-Feb-19 09:10:33

What a horrible time you've had MissA. I hope you will be able to rationalise what happened so that it doesn't continue to distress and haunt you. And your poor grandson, he must have been feeling so miserable, poor boy - do hope he's getting over his bug now. flowers

EllanVannin Sun 17-Feb-19 09:08:59

Sorry to hear about your " episode " MissA. The mind can be powerful at times and take over your whole body and well-being, usually if it's troubled in some way.

I don't know much about these " happenings " except that they're sometimes known to affect the short-term memory maybe as a safety-valve to shut something out ? I don't know but it must make you feeling drained.

I hope the youngster feels better today and that both of you are able to take things easy today. x

DanniRae Sun 17-Feb-19 09:08:15

Ginny42 - can you let me know the herbal remedy that you mentioned too? Thank you smile

DanniRae Sun 17-Feb-19 09:06:17

Miss A - I hope the morning has brought you some peace and your grandson is feeling better too flowers

RosieLeah Sun 17-Feb-19 09:03:41

MissA...I would guess that you have had some sort of a vision, seeing something which was happening elsewhere? Not uncommon but rather startling if you're not used to it. I do hope your poor grandson is feeling better this morning. What a dreadful night for you both.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Feb-19 08:48:28

Miss A hopefully you are feeling calmer and more settled this morning.

Hoping your GSs bug has passed, there is a lot of it going round this side of the bridge also!!
