Perhaps it’s more accurate where there are more regional words for things. DH scored the area of the NE coast he comes from, but he still says things like spelk for splinter even after living in the south for 53 years.?

Placed me Wiltshire/Somerset, and as I'm from Wiltshire that's pretty good.

It correctly placed me too, I was surprised as I rarely use slang.

I got quite a large area of South East England. Perhaps I’m too RP? ?

Loved that quiz, great fun. It placed me in the west of Scotland where I was born and raised.. (although long gone from there)

In a wide area between London and the Home Counties and tbe Norfolk coast. Born and lived all my life in London, educated in Essex, holidays in Norfolk, so it's accurate as far as it goes, but not very precise.

It seems to be reasonably accurate for Ireland. A few of my children did it and got similar results to me but son in law got south west which is where he’s from.

It's put me where I've lived for 45 years, in the Scottish Borders. I wasn't born here but must have picked up all the language from my DC.

We called that game "tig".

Grandma70s I also called the chasing game 'tick' when I was a child in South Staffordshire. The person 'ticked' was 'it'.

It placed me firmly in Yorkshire, I didn't muddle any algorithms but I think I have kept the English from my younger years through living abroad,
There were some words which are pure Yorkshire which I have kept but if I'd lived all the time in the UK perhaps down South I'm sure I would have changed my vocabulary

There’s an article in the Times today about the quiz.
Apparently our class system fools their system. Speakers of recieved pronunciation muddle the algorithms.

I suppose it must depend on how many local words and pronunciations you use. I don’t think I’ve ever used many, which must be why it got me so wrong.

I was interested to learn, though, that ‘tick’ for that chasing game is regional to approximately my original area of Wirral /Cheshire/north Wales. It’s the only word I ever used as a child, and of course as you grow up you don’t use it, so you don’t realise people from other areas might not understand it.

Spot on with Glasgow, although I've lived in Sydney, Aus for 28 years! People here still find it hard to understand me ?

I've moved from Essex to the NE, via Yorkshire, but when doing the quiz I tried to use the words I would have used as a child e.g I would call a 'stream' a 'beck' now but I didn't 60 years ago!

However, I still say 'pars, glars, farther (pass, glass, father) etc. despite efforts of the northern locals to get me to change my ways

Miles out for me. It put me in an area that included London, Surrey and Hampshire. I come from Wirral! I did it twice and it was wrong (same sort of wrong) both times. I did live in London for a couple of years, but have never lived in Surrey or Hampshire.

Correctly placed me in the North West (and I've moved around a bit!)
