It was hinted on the lunch-time news that the manager's days are numbered as he has lost control.

I think the goalie's days should be numbered for behaving like a spoilt brat. He let in penalties, didn't he?

DH was at the match. Said he had n3ver seen anything like it. Goalie insisting he continued despite obvious cramp. All very odd!!

I just saw it on the main news, they are both playing it down but it looks as if the goalkeeper was refusing to come off and the manager had a major strop!

I would comment that my 7 year old DGS is a madly keen football player and plays for a local under 7 team where he is a bit of a whizz, bless him.

Good Evening! Sorry folks, I'm off! I thought this would be an intelligent conversation with a neck and neck race for top spot in the EPL underway as well as the FA Cup, but it seems to have attracted nay-sayers, "rugger-only" fans, etc.
I'll leave you to argue the toss whether to call it soccer, football, footy, or whatever takes your fancy.

You may think that at 91 your banter or attempts to “flirt” are a bit of harmless fun, and FYI “flirt” is not a term I have ever used, but “harmless fun” was how many men viewed their inappropriate language and behaviour last century. Thank goodness we have moved on.
Perhaps your outlook is still firmly based in the 1950’s but even you must have realised that that is not how to act in a friendly way to women.

Good Morning all sports buffs: Sad news I'm afraid. GNHQ (the ref.) has issued me with 2 yellow cards. Apparently I've been reported for "flirting"! I can guess which section of the terraces from which this has come; but the rules state that a red card follows automatically, so it's "off you go" and early shower.
Anyone who objects to being "flirted" at our ages must have an extraordinary high opinion of themselves; speaking for myself I'd welcome a bit of flirting from anyone (Grandads excepted!); quite a compliment; beggars can't be choosers! OoRoo

Rufus Grammar schools were state school then. My DH also passed his 11+ and went to the local grammar school, Emanuel in Wandsworth. It was a state funded school then. It is now a fee paying school.

In England, there were two types of football: rugby football and association football.
Jalima; I spent the war years (WW2)! at a respectable boys-only grammar school where we "read" Latin and played "Rugger"; Union of course! No football (soccer): that was played at State schools! Unfortunately there's not a lot (positive) that can be said in favour of Aussie rugby! No hope of beating the All Blacks anytime soon. OoRoo

But in Uk it’s called Football Rufus and your thread is about two U.K. teams so the title should be FOOTBALL call it what you want if you are writing about Aussie teams in Australia Mt grandson has played footie since he was 5 and played for the county and now the reserves of a our local team but like everything in life it’s only a few that get high wages most good players go through life without any monetary gain at all
