Sorry so totally understand Gonegirl was posting from her POV that generally there’s very little sympathy for this girl and obviously her guillotine comment was about the French Revolution and not about isis beheadings.

Some elements of Sharia Law are practiced in the U.K. I suspect mainly in an attempt to resolve ‘domestic’ or family disputes. I feel strongly it shouldn’t be because it discriminated against women. As PECS pointed out, Isil wanted a whole lot more in their caliphate than Sharia law

I think it’s a given that all religions are inherently mysogynistic and controlling. The more devout more inward looking more extreme the religious person the more likely they are to be controlling mysogynistic and intransigent.

Of course the burka is founded in mysogyny, of course the anti abortion stance of the far right Christians is mysogynistic.

As feminists we should be highlighting these things.

Just heard on the news that she’s asked for forgiveness and renounced ISIL.

It’s also been disclosed that she hasn’t got a U.K. passport. She got into Syria on her sister’s.
So I suppose she’ll have to prove that she was born in the U.K. to get one.

I suppose she only needs w birth certificate though for her to apply?

I’ve just seen an up to date photograph, she looks unwell. I posted earlier my concern about the mh of a 15 year old taking the decisions she took. Most of us are open to influences at thst age, many posters have pointed to the factors that are likely to have influenced her. I still haven’t read Jane Ainsworth’s link but I do believe in redemption. I also believe in our power to change if we really want to.

Renouncing ISIL today is a complete turn around, given her comments in previous interviews. It is tempting to think 'She would, wouldn't she?' given the amount of opposition to her being allowed into Britain.

In that case I think she will be in danger in the U.K. from all sides .
