What do people think about the young woman who ran away to join ISIS and now wants to return here to have her baby in safety? I don't know what to think. I'm sorry her last babies died but I'm horrified to hear her dismiss unbelievers' heads in bins as 'enemies of Islam'. Any thoughts?
I can just about deal with emails! totally my own fault as I shamefully use my Ac to do it for me!
A few weeks ago they and dh were all out and I wanted to watch a CD. I hadn’t a clue what channel the dvd setting was on and was confused by my 3 remotes. Had to text my son for help shameful really
Mycatisahacker agree with all your posts, thoughtful and well worded. MaryE as always you jump in angrily with boots on and create uproar ( just for the hell of it presumably.)
Renouncing ISIL today is a complete turn around, given her comments in previous interviews. It is tempting to think 'She would, wouldn't she?' given the amount of opposition to her being allowed into Britain.
I’ve just seen an up to date photograph, she looks unwell. I posted earlier my concern about the mh of a 15 year old taking the decisions she took. Most of us are open to influences at thst age, many posters have pointed to the factors that are likely to have influenced her. I still haven’t read Jane Ainsworth’s link but I do believe in redemption. I also believe in our power to change if we really want to.
Just heard on the news that she’s asked for forgiveness and renounced ISIL.
It’s also been disclosed that she hasn’t got a U.K. passport. She got into Syria on her sister’s. So I suppose she’ll have to prove that she was born in the U.K. to get one.
I think it’s a given that all religions are inherently mysogynistic and controlling. The more devout more inward looking more extreme the religious person the more likely they are to be controlling mysogynistic and intransigent.
Of course the burka is founded in mysogyny, of course the anti abortion stance of the far right Christians is mysogynistic.
As feminists we should be highlighting these things.
Some elements of Sharia Law are practiced in the U.K. I suspect mainly in an attempt to resolve ‘domestic’ or family disputes. I feel strongly it shouldn’t be because it discriminated against women. As PECS pointed out, Isil wanted a whole lot more in their caliphate than Sharia law
Sorry so totally understand Gonegirl was posting from her POV that generally there’s very little sympathy for this girl and obviously her guillotine comment was about the French Revolution and not about isis beheadings.
Of course she wasn’t referring to that.
My post was to see both sides and to please ask posters (one in particular) not to personally attack and bully other posters she disagrees with. That’s not a debate.
I only mentioned Gonegirls guillotine comment to show it’s easy to make honest mistakes without posted jumping on you and personally attacking you.
Gonegirl hasn’t been personal I think but some have hectored and bullied others for honest mistakes even after they have apologised and that’s mean
No I absolutely understand it was an honest mistake.we all make them which completely illustrates my point that posters can make honest mistakes without being personally attacked. As has been happening my, not you, another poster.
I was simply putting both sides and yes of course there will be well trained experts in MI5/6 and that’s not us, any of us.
So it’s perfectly acceptable for people to Post their views as long as they are lawful.
What isn’t acceptable is hectoring personally insulting and villifying posters you disagree with. And I think in this thread your posts about the guillotine was quite extraordinary considering what the woman said about severed heads in bins.
