Have you ever used one, or would you be too frightened to?

Do you think its a lot of old claptrap, or should we not mess with things we don't understand?
Are they a gateway to 'the other side', or a way of possibly unleashing something that should be left well alone?

I have a large rug in a room which isn't used much. I can go in there after a week or two to find the rug a couple of feet away from where it used to be, when no-one has walked on it or even near it. Heat variations and the sun coming in the window cause that

Elegran... that did give me a chuckle I'm afraid..please tell how heat variations and the sun shining through the window can move a rug "a couple of feet".. ??

I see we are being 'nannied' again. Why do others get concerned about posts between
Anniebach and GabriellaG I'm sure they can defend themselves.

I'm firmly in the "load of old claptrap" category - along with all religion! Got dragged along to a spiritualist evening once, years ago - and what a load of old nonsense it was! People hearing or believing what they wanted to hear...

I guess we all feel that way until we experience something for ourselves that can’t be explained away.

absent as Paul Daniel's would say "that's magic", sums it up neatly.

My father was member of the Magic Circle so I would not bother with a ouija board, a clairvoyant, a crystal ball, a fortune teller or a tarot reader – or even sawing someone in half. I know how they work.

I am very sceptical of mediums, and ouija boards. Many large rewards have been offered, over the years, to anyone who could give proof, under controlled conditions, of contacting the dead. No-one has ever been able to do so.

However, I do believe that there are things which have happened that we can not understand. I think that I would rather play safe, and not tamper with the 'other side', if there is one.

Me too, sharon smile
Maybe I'm a bit of an Arthur C Clarke?

A subject I love to read about. Thanks MissAdventure.

Desperate to try one, but too scared! If used incorrectly, very dangerous, but a useful tool if used by someone who knows what they are doing.

See I think people who totally think there’s nothing in the after life and mediums and oujia boards are hilarious probably don’t voice that opinion about the Christian or Muslim religions and they are exactly the same.

Based on hope and faith.

I cannot fathom how a medium told me so many personal details and contrary to previous posters I am in no way suggestable I went for a laugh. I told her nothing and she told me things no one and I mean no one knew. It was bloody wierd.

I don’t take the piss. Only the stupid do in my opinion.

I think there are a lot of charlatans and misguided people out there but, occasionally, inexplicable things happen or are intuited.
I saw a medium at a fair a couple of years ago. His first question was 'so, who's David then?' that was/is my DH. He then proceeded to reel of an accurate character portrait, descriptions of the problems we were having and how DH was contributing, the differences between us and likely outcomes. He asked no questions, I said not a word. I was flabbergasted. In a brief conversation afterwards he told me that if he concentrated, words just came into his head and he just said them and that people usually found them relevant. He'd had a lot of tragedy in his life and had worked as a fireman.
What the latter adds I don't really know. Perhaps 'good' mediums mind read in some way? Certainly something outside of the everyday seems possible. It wasn't the first time I've come across something seemingly irrational.

A few years ago now a friend and I used to go to a spiritualist church on a regular basis, and constantly she was given messages that were so alike and also very true. She was repeatedly told of photos of herself as a baby in a pram with a very vivid description of a doll. All these occured with very different clairvoyents over a period of about seven or so years.

stevej4491 Mon 11-Feb-19 21:29:55

When i was sixteen I went with a friend to a spiritulist, she told me I would marry someone with buttons on a uniform, from across the sea.Two years later,on holiday on the Isle of Man,I met someone who was in the RAF ,stationed in Cyprus.Guess what ? I married him three years later and were married for forty three years till he passed away. She also told my friend several things which all came to fruition too.

Jalima1108 Mon 11-Feb-19 21:15:54

How does one explain items whizzing around rooms and unexplained noises if there is not such thing as unhappy or mischievous spirits ie poltergeists?

Jalima1108 Mon 11-Feb-19 21:11:26

Close encounters of the third kind …..
or fourth or fifth or even sixth

janeainsworth Mon 11-Feb-19 20:40:51

Elegran Mon 11-Feb-19 20:33:14

Three, Gabriella One from wellwalked was deleted as well as one each from you and Anniebach. Looks as though GNHQ was saying, "I don't care who started it, but you can all stop it right now", just as we have all said many times in the past (about 40 years ago in my case)

Lily65 Mon 11-Feb-19 20:05:42

Maybe it was a message from * elsewhere*

GabriellaG54 Mon 11-Feb-19 20:02:31
