It's particularly annoying when they ask you to review something that hasn't actually arrived yet, - as happened this week.

adaunas Like you I always check reviews before I buy anything. The review requests that really get to me are from Australia Post or the doctor. I just delete these straight away. I did write a good review the other day for a small Aussie family company after receiving an item I ordered online and it came in extraordinarily quick time (by Australia Post but not because of them). It seems like everyone wants to get a rating or review nowadays.

The funniest ever was when we bought a clock, certified to keep time regulated by the clock in Frankfurt and only to deviate by one second in the course of the coming five hundred years!

I remarked that we could always will it to the Society of Jesus on the clear understanding that they the Jesuits complain in 500 years' time if it has deviated more, but DH doubted that the mechanism would still be working half a century in the future, or the company still exist that sold it for that matter.

Amazon are fond of asking me for reviews of books a day after I got them and haven't had time to read them!! It's a book. It has pages.

I always read reviews of things before I buy them. I like Putting reviews on TripAdvisor especially if it was a good visit but even if it wasn’t I’d like to warn people what might happen. The only thing I don’t review is my visit to the doctor. I always worry that I might find myself on their blacklist if I say what I really think of the poor treatment I’ve been given on occasions.

Trip Advisor has helped us a great deal, although people's opinions vary of course. Basically the poster seems to give a valid account of what/where/when they have stayed at any particular hotel/cottage/resort, so yes, it is sometimes worthwhile

I am an avid reviewer and reader of reviews as I detest shopping and use Amazon etc a lot....

I try and give reviews except where they are unreasonable, such as the examples above (how long did the battery last?" - Der!)

I just wish there was any point in reading them. There are usually as many positive ones as negative. So I stick to the technical details.

I also find that I'm asked to review things like doctor's visits and bank transactions. Now I just decline - what a waste of time .

I do read book reviews.

I ignore all the review requests - life's too short for all that nonsense.

I dont automatically do reviews usually only for small companies or exceptional service!

I agree it can be nuisance, however I find I am more likely to believe the reviews than I am to believe the blurb supplied by the seller! I bought a trolley thingy for the utility room a year ago and am still being asked if it has two shelves or three. There's a perfectly good picture of the trolley on the internet, can't people count up to three? Grr.

Yes - the requests for reviews are a pain. You have hardly pressed "Buy it Now" and they are dropping into the Inbox.

I get fed up having to review items which have barely fallen through the letterbox. They are usually from Am***n. Some idiot even asked me how long the battery lasted when I bought a small alarm clock online.
