I don't have a lot of people to talk with so I thought I would share these stories with you, dear GN's. Last week I was teaching English (volunteer) in Spain and was speaking to a man who had three sons, ages 12, 10 and 2. To cut it short, he told me the eldest had been born very prematurely and now has cerebral palsy and difficulties with walking, talking etc. But he showed me videos of the boy in his independent walking frame and was so proud of him. I commented that his younger brothers must love to help their big brother. He paused, and then told me that a few years ago (at the age of 7) the (now) middle boy said "Daddy and Mummy - I think I am going to need some help with my brother when he gets older. You need to have another baby to help me!" After a great deal of thought, they did just that. Honestly I couldn't help tears running down my eyes!
Then I read on a travel forum, about a family going on an international trip and the mum's passport was nowhere to be found! She had to get an emergency one so they could travel and three weeks after they got home, the passport was found in the 3 year-old's bedroom. He said "I just wanted to keep mummy's special book1"
