Just that really there are some things I just don’ get

Reality TV
Ant & Dec
Lentils
People who have off road vehicles but live in a town
Avocados
maybe it’s just me getting old and grumpy ?

Nandalot Sat 26-Jan-19 22:56:18

Grannybags, I’m shocked! Do you mean I have to dust the ornaments inside the cabinet? I thought the glass meant I didn’t have to.grin

KatyK Sat 26-Jan-19 22:43:45

tina grin

Best one on this thread. I have a joke with a friend about hers.
I said I'll know when your dead: all this crap will be in the charity shop.
Just incase anyone's offended: we both have a very dark SOH.

Men wearing shorts in winter (or in some cases wearing them at all ?)
Hope Mrs Brown appreciates you Katy
Great hair Merlotgran

Sarahmob Sat 26-Jan-19 22:12:37

Agreeing with lots of things here - don’t get ripped jeans, breakfast biscuits, bare feet in winter ?

KatyK Sat 26-Jan-19 22:03:27

Poor old Mrs Brown! I wonder how it's won so many awards with just me watching grin

Jalima1108 Sat 26-Jan-19 22:02:27

I get lentils and most definitely avocados!
I half get Dec, kind of.

I don't get so many of the other peculiarities other posters have mentioned, eg ripped jeans, tattoos (why pay for pain?)
art which isn't (no talent, taking the Michael in fact)

Love the hair merlot but I want mine purple

annodomini Sat 26-Jan-19 21:41:01

Ready-made ripped jeans. Mrs Brown's Boys. Tanning salons. Canned laughter in sitcoms.

Grannybags Sat 26-Jan-19 21:06:47

Glass fronted cabinets full of junk ornaments you have to dust all the time.

Nannylovesshopping Sat 26-Jan-19 21:03:15

Having to pay for a permit to park in the road outside my house because I live near town, I didn’t have to pay when I lived further from town?

pensionpat Sat 26-Jan-19 21:00:50

Or do I mean 3D printers?

pensionpat Sat 26-Jan-19 21:00:17

CD printers

Blinko Sat 26-Jan-19 20:58:34

Ripped jeans
Love Island
I'm a Celebrity, etc.
short tops, bare chests and mini skirts in mid winter...
stilettos
Jeremy Kyle

though I do get lentils, avocados and cous cous. Oh and those recipe boxes...

sassenach512 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:51:19

Trout pouts ( sticking them onto a window comes to mind)

Bum implants ( who in their right mind wants their backside to look like a small country???)

Short top over bare baby bump ( just...no confused)

Tattoos (they may look good when your skin is young and taut but what will it look like when your skin has gone south?)

Meal ingredients delivered through the post (can't people just pick them up at the supermarket anymore??)

Jeans with rips all the way up each leg (what is that all about? is this high fashion these days?)

People who don't put their headlights on when its foggy or even just a bit darker (you might be able to see Sunny Jim but I can't see you looming out of the gloom)

BradfordLass72 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:18:13

I don't understand half of the things you mention! Love lentils and avocados. Watched Mrs Brown on DVD once, wouldn't waste my time again but I did laugh at some of it.

Also watched a DVD of some Idol thing with a man called Cowell who pretended to be astonished when a unprepossessing lady singer had a sensational voice. Do they really think we don't know there must have been local and regional heats and that all the judges knew exactly what was coming up?

I certainly don't get voluntary starvation, knowing the harm it can do. Or the gullibility of people who truly believe being thinner (and that alone) is healthier.
Or people who live their lives by numbers because a diet company, to whom they've paid BIG money, says so....and being scared of food, thinking it's 'unhealthy' (unless you have a genuine medical condition: diabetes, coeliac) is totally beyond me.

And the slavish worship of 'science' (I'm currently enjoying a free course on Humanism) as a replacement for God when we all know science has a long history of being wrong.

I'll get off me high horse now........

GrannyGravy13 Sat 26-Jan-19 20:14:17

merlot - love your granddaughters hair.

merlotgran Sat 26-Jan-19 19:52:26

I don't get fat lips or big eyebrows either.

merlotgran Sat 26-Jan-19 19:51:17

In the 1960s we had white faces and black eyes.

Now it's pink hair and I totally get DGD's new look. grin

EllanVannin Sat 26-Jan-19 19:46:17

It's the big lips that get me. They're like rolls of lino-----not at all attractive.

Grammaretto Sat 26-Jan-19 19:43:17

Getting a dog and paying for doggy day care. Agree!
I get avocados and lentils.
I don't get piercings or tattoos and hope my DGC won't damage their perfect bodies. It's akin to self harm.
High heeled shoes.
Most teenage fashion but I get that they have to do something their parents wouldn't
In the 1960s we had white faces and black eyes.

Chewbacca Sat 26-Jan-19 19:35:26

I don't get the current fashion for ridiculously big eyebrows that's some young women are sporting now. They make Dennis Healey look well groomed.

annep Sat 26-Jan-19 19:17:18

We'll never get men (nor will they get us)
Yes nail bars!
And gluten free bread with about 30 ingredients. no thank you.
I do get Mrs Browns Boys but then I live in Northern Ireland.

eazybee Sat 26-Jan-19 19:14:24

Mrs. Brown's Boys
hen/stag weeks
open plan kitchens/living rooms (cooking smells)
ripped jeans

battleship grey paint everywhere

Lily65 Sat 26-Jan-19 19:11:58

Oh yes, the cold shoulder tops.....not the best look unless you have toned arms.
