I think I’m becoming addicted ...

I live in Adelaide South Australia and have only been a member of this group for a few weeks but I have to admit that, I too, am an addict. I love reading the posts (missed the spanking paddle one) but most of the topics are so relatable.

Yes GN does take up a lot of my time but in a good way. I joined when I was a soon to be Granny a couple of years ago and have found so much useful advice on handling the new relationships successfully. Many wise women (and men) on this site. Also often topics make me laugh or smile and lots of kind advice for those in need of sympathy. A lovely community on tap without having to leave home.

Hi all, first time commenting but have been addicted to GN for a good while now first thing I look at after walking the dog in the morning and sometimes a sneaky look when I can’t sleep. I too have just had to look up Spanking paddle and bdsm?? Thanks all for widening my education x

I wouldn't say I'm addicted but I try to look on here at least once a day, also Mumsnet. With this new laptop I can't get Patience (or Solitaire as it was called) - now that was an addiction - I'd play it until my eyes started to go funny.

I'm on Gransnet every day and enjoy the company and discussions. I do sometimes wonder if I should miss a day now and then to prove to myself that I am not becoming addicted.

Oh a big hello to everyone! There are quite a lot of us addicts aren’t there - which is reassuring! And so many new names too which is nice. Perhaps some of you just post on different threads to me and that’s why I haven’t seen your names. And some describe themselves as ‘lurkers’ - for whatever reason .... shyness, not liking some of the more combatitive posters - especially on the political threads! And I’m with you Aepgirl some of the links and research that gets posted (thinking of the Brexit topic here!) is very off putting. It can seem like homework!
But it’s lovely to make your acquaintance all on this gentle jokey thread. ?

NanaMacGeek I also acquired a Screen Time Setting on my iPad after a recent upgrade and I am going to switch it off as I really don’t want to know how long I spend each day on line. In my defense, I use the iPad to read the newspaper, download library books, play scrabble, I am also doing a language course and of course Gransnet so I may be addicted

Me too....First thing in the morning, last thing at night and plenty in between, like now 11.55 a.m.

Another addict here. I have not been able to walk much for the last two months and am now waiting for hospital tests next week which may bring unwanted news. So GN has been good for taking my mind off things. As soon as the GN email drops into my box I am clicking to get my fix for the morning. Later in the day I click on to GN website and start reading more topics. My DH thinks I am addicted too.

I post on Micks 'good morning' thread and check in and out throughout the day. Haven't got around to looking at games yet, in case I get (even more) addicted! Now I really MUST plant those primroses and start stripping the wallpaper!

Mrs JamJam, you have reassured me that I am not the only Gransnetter still under the duvet at nine o’clock in the morning. I too have to read different threads before starting the day!

Also addicted to GN and have been for ages. So informative and mostly kind. I only get annoyed when people are pedantic and superior.

I’ve been on it a few years and my morning doesn’t start
properly until I’ve read all the different threads.
Although, I have noticed a few names that were there when
I first came on, are no longer showing, and wonder what
happened to them.
However, there do seem to be lots of newer ones who have

I love Gransnet. It's interesting, informative, frank, fun, and, yes, addictive. I read it every morning, It's definitely the best thing on the internet - no question. Thanks ladies and gents, it's wonderful to know there are people out there like me.

Well my iPad has a Screen Time setting, it appeared suddenly after a recent upgrade! I took one look at it and turned it off because it told me how long I spend on GN. It might well have said 'get a life'!

I'm stuck at home because we have builders in at the moment. It's a brilliant excuse for not doing any housework but it won't last. All the washing is up to date. The freezer is full. I've updated and backed up my systems, now what? I'll get a knitting pattern tomorrow ot perhaps start another jigsaw. Anyone with any techy problems out there?

I came off of Facebook because it's so nasty. I love GN!

I’m another who became addicted to reading messages on GN while recovering from a hip replacement operation. I often feel sorry for myself that both my children and grandchildren live in Australia but reading some of the unhappy family problems on here I don’t feel quite so upset about the distance. Thank goodness for FaceTime but it does take me a while to get the iPad in a position that won’t make the family think ‘my goodness she’s ageing fast’!

I have had the lurgy and still got it, so its been good to have something to read. Very useful advice too - that is how I found the site originally, googled something that was worrying me and the info came up on Gransnet.

I blame it on the weather.

I read posts daily but have to say that if a post is very long, I lose heart and click out.

I hold my hands up. I'm addicted.

If I'm not doing housework, reading, doing crosswords or watching TV I'm on my phone checking out GN or FB. I must check GN about 10 times a day. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a lot more
It makes me laugh, informs me, and it's not often at least one member has knowledge or experience to give helpful advice.
What's not too love.

I switch on while I have my first cup of tea in bed and then carry on reading through breakfast, I don't feel ready for the day unless I have read GN.
I may return during the day at intervals depending on whether I have my tablet handy.

If I am home I am on and off Gransnet all day too. (I am on a lap top so have to be home). When I found the lunch and spanking thread I read every post (7 pages) and then added mine. I am still following it because it is so far from what I experience in my life - so educational I guess?
I LOVE Gransnet and I am so happy that I found it. I wasn't even a gran when I first came on in 2016 but I am to be one in May/June!!

Totally addicted! Gransnet with my breakfast, then on and off all day if I am at home. I have learned so much, especially on the family dynamics threads.
