Exercise

The Chinese love their group dancing, they don’t wait for the Council or Government to arrange something. When we were in Beijing at almost any part of the day, when we went for a walk, we would come across groups who had a ghetto blaster type player, and the elderly would be dancing. We stood to watch, and a man who must have been 100, and came up to my waist! I’m only 5’4? asked me to dance. We shuffled around for a tune, while I cried, as I was struggling not to giggle, after the dance all the people clapped. I never stood to watch after that???

IMO, dancing is a great leveller and gives joy, even on your own but better with or in company.

Coming from someone with all the grace of a freshly dug whelk, I have to say it looks as if it night be fairly easy to learn?

I do a bit of heel thumping (good to guard against osteoporosis apparently)

Yes, that is it.
There are plenty of videos showing all sorts of people doing their own versions. My two favourites are the one in your pic and another showing the principal of a school in China heading a playgroundcfull of pupils all doing it. He thought it a good way of getting them off their mobiles and exercising. Took him a month to learn so he could teach pupils and staff.
I go to a session in Camberley and in good weather about 20 of us do it outdoors, in parks, leisure centres anywhere really. Even once in a shopping mall. Adrenaline rush.

This is a headmaster who wants the school children to do more exercise. He does the Chinese Shuffle with them.
I think it looks great fun.
