I love my flat it is all mine furnished just as I like it. After the end of a terrible marriage I love that I come in, do what I like, snuggle down and answer to nobody I love living on my own. Oh and it's definitely living room as far as I'm concerned but people should call their space whatever they like.

We downsized 12 years ago and have recently revamped the lounge/sitting room/drawing room. I love it, have one dark wall and a gas fire that looks like the real thing complete with sparks from the imitation coal. It’s so cosy but lovely in summer. I always say to my DC that the next move will be to sheltered housing.

Seems we are engaged in a thread on Hygge, a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment.

I think it is very important to develop the ability to be cozy, and to make thinks like offering refreshments, and chatting to friensds. Hygge.

I too absolutely love my home and it’s especially lovely as it’s all mine, my design, my choices etc and I love it when my guests compliment me on it to !!

I love my home. I love the summer when we have family bar-b-ques and sit out on seat to have glass of wine in evenings.

I love my home too, albeit very small and quirky. I'm always happy to come back, wherever I've been. Settling down in the eveing with candles, dressing gown and cuddly throw, I'm in my element. The biggest compliment I had was when my granddaughter said 'I love everything about your house Nan and everything in it. I wish it were mine!' I'll be even happier when the new front door arrives!

After years of moving we have been in our home for 16 years, bliss.

I do get that joyous feeling when I get home, not so much now we are retired and home more but there are still days and evenings when I really am glad to be home.

I love the front of the house in winter for it's cosiness. The back of the house in summer works really well, there are cool spots and warm spots all day and into the evening, joy.

What's not so comforting is the prospect of ripping apart the front room, lounge, living room - whatever you want to call it.

It has to be done as the joists need replacing and we are only just getting over having the back of the house ripped apart and re-done. It's lovely now though so I have faith that the front will be lovely once it's done.

I feel very fortunate to be warm and comfy. Enjoy you day folks.

I love getting into bed on a winters night.The electric blanket will have warmed the sheets. My book is waiting to be read and I'm happy.

surrounding houses are to expensive for us,but there is a mobile home site just a mile away,which we could afford.

My lounge is where I lounge about!

My dining room (am I allowed to say that?) has lots of Ladderax, blueskies which we bought about 5 years ago. We also have a Danish teak dining table and sideboard. We walk through the dining room to get to our Lounge so see that every day.

Our playroom (or upstairs sitting room!) is all modern and light and open plan with our verriere (or glass corridor, as we call it)

I have to take issue with the OP I'm afraid. Surely there is never a time when the sun is pouring in the windows front and back?

Goodness gracious me....’front room’ ( cos it was in the front) when I was growing up......sitting room now cos it’s where we sit and watch tv or talk or read the papers. I agree ‘lounges are for airports and hotels!! But as long as it’s cosy , warm , and safe and you love being in it....what’s it matter what you call it!

Living room here ,I cant abide "lounge" I think it came from TV ,American and Australian soaps use it .I have notices most new builds here hav ecompletely open plan living room/kichen and diner ,Not sure I would like thet.I have a kitchen /diner with a sitting area but I do like my seperate living room for watching TV .listening to music or just having friends round without dirty pots in the background

Found the almost perfect house and downsized 2 years ago. I made my living room really colourful but comfy. My friends call it “quirky “. I love that it different, just like me

I love my patio on a hot summer day when I can laze on a sunbed with a cool drink & a good book on my Kindle.
I do like my sitting room too-I'm in South Surrey too Gabriella- in the winter when the curtains are drawn & the world shut out but give me the garden every time.

Oh yes I love my home. I also count my blessings when climbing into my very comfortable double bed which has an electric under blanket to keep my poor old bones warm. I feel very lucky that I want for nothing, although I am not considered to be rich in monetary terms.
I also appreciate the peace of having a home to myself.
These are the things that I remind myself of when things are tough.

I always loved my sitting room. Nathan sideboard and dining table plus ladderax including desk. I leave you to guess how old. Last summer a friend offered to “ take the stress away” and revamp. The walls were painted, out went the sideboard and she painted my teak ladderax dark - very dark blue. It looks awful. I have lots of books so need the shelving and use the desk all the time.to replace it would be so expensive but when I walk into the room it is in my face and my heart sinks. It is no longer my sanctuary. I really don’t know what to do.
