We have one of our GC’s Birthday today, they came into our room and opened their presents in bed (Mummy was there as well) They have now gone to a Wildlife Park for the day and then we will join them for dinner in a local restaurant which the Birthday GC loves.

Changing beds and general faffing is the order of the day.

Take care kitcheners, no doubt there will be lots of cake left over, will drop it by later ?

Ellan, I know how debilitating nausea is as I have had it for years. I thought it would improve after my bowel operation but I still get bouts of it. I have Cyclizine on repeat prescription, doesn't always work but better than nothing.

I am very concerned about a young friend of mine whose husband has been missing since Thursday morning. It was thought he had gone to work but it appears he went for a run on the moors instead. The police and mountain rescue are out looking for him.

galen, how awful for you! We are in limbo waiting for Dh's op date so I have a small idea of how you feel but not to know how Lucy actually died must be dreadful.

I made a chocolate cake with salted caramel butter cream and some almond and lemon Italian biscuity things yesterday which didn't get eaten so I'll leave them here - help yourselves! The children bought me a photo shoot for my birthday which was supposed to be yesterday at a local beauty spot and our house. The weather put paid to that!!

Think of me tomorrow at about lunchtime - tooth coming out.

ellan sorry you are suffering with nausea. I understand there are many things you can’t take but I do think it’s worth chatting to your GP just to see. There may be something new on the market. Hope you get to feel better soon.

galen sorry they have not found the cause of Lucy’s death. It just adds to things you have to go through.

Ellan the nausea sounds really dreadful. With my latest tablets I have been given anti-nausea tablets. Would it be worth going to the GP to see if they would help?

I was diagnosed with 3rd stage CKD a few years ago but although I'm keeping reasonably well I get a lot of nausea. I do make sure that I look after myself even though I don't have treatment apart from a creatinine test once a year. The reading last year had gone down a notch since the year before so I wasn't overly worried but to have nausea nearly every day isn't cricket.

I haven't bothered going to the GP as there's not a lot I can take with having warfarin, so I chew mint chewing gum which helps. Appetite isn't so bad though I can't eat the same as I used to. I have raw/root ginger as well.

I know this nausea is kidney-related but it does stop me from leading a normal life at times-----most of the time in fact, but I'm not in pain it's just an inconvenience.

I doubt if I'd be offered a transplant at my age should it go to stage 4. I'll just have to make sure it doesn't and eat as much alkaline foodstuffs as possible.

It was untreated high blood pressure which had caused it. In other words I hadn't known that I'd had high BP until it came to a head in 2006 and of course the damage was already done.

soop I have not been near that lot because it would be dreadful if they picked up man flu and we do not have ITU facilities which is what they think they would need.

When I am better and the weather has improved they will be sorry I have returned. I hope the floozies have stayed away. I would not be able to look their wives in the face knowing what this lot had been up to without much supervision due to ill health and annual leave.

Galen I am very sorry to hear there is still no conclusion on the cause of Lucy's death.

I had good intentions but they were gobbled up, and have since disappeared into the ether.

No sooner had I started a couple of jobs aboot the hoos, when the phone rang. Our good pals in the village wondered whether they would be welcome to pop in and have a blether. Two hours later...you get my drift...nowt achieved but a good chortle shared and a box of chocs opened and scoffed.
A good time was had by all. I still haven't managed to catch up.

I need to do stuff. No! Yes, really. I have been a lazy mare today. It's dark and the fire is ready to lit. I shall raise a G&T to you all once I settle into my comfy chair to read the Sunday papers.

Hello all. Have not looked in for some time as had a ghastly flu that lasted for two weeks. I don’t think I could have passed on my germs in a virtual kitchen but did not want to take a chance.
Sad that so many of you are going through illnesses and bereavements. We have lost two good friend this week but also there have been two new babies born in our circle which in a small way helps us to come to terms with the losses.
I am just going to have a little of the home made soup and bread and enjoy the fruits of others’ labour. Why do things other people have made, even a cup of tea, taste better than if I do it myself?

My late husband had kidney disease. He had to go onto dialysis then had a kidney transplant.

The post mortem on Lucy has not revealed the cause of death.
They’ve taken samples for toxicology and histology.
It will then be a coroner s inquest

We're running late. After a lovely walk through the snowdrop covered glen, we arrived home to a phone message that took some time to return. As I was about to come into our kitchen, the folk next door paid a visit, and we chatted over coffee for well over an hour. Okay...now I need to do a few jobs before I return to catch up with all the latest happenings. I shall return.

It has been a lovely day here. I got started chopping up an old plum tree that blew down in the first big wind this winter. Actually, it might have been autumn. Wotevs. It's more firewood when seasoned, though we haven't actually needed to light to stove much this year.

I have chronic kidney disease Ellen , but it’s closely monitored and doesn’t really cause me too much grief .

I’m not sure about ironing pants but I ironed over 20pillowcases this morning. I had bought 8 new ones which needed washing and pressing , then I changed all the bed and all the pillows so that added to the pile. But it’s done now.

I shall leave some home made roasted red pepper and tomato soup here , freshly made ! Please bring virtual cake.... ?
