Just seen the story of the 72 year old woman who has had a holiday romance and married the 19 yr old shock

Well, no such problems in Cleethorpes, sea and men quite acceptable grin

Liz46 Thu 17-Jan-19 16:51:47

Dontaskme, that was not our experience unfortunately. We have been twice and have given up because of the dreadful pestering. 'No thank you' didn't work for us.

The locals in South Goa have got it just right - smiley and friendly but it's a dreadful journey back, leaving at 3.00 a.m.

Dontaskme Thu 17-Jan-19 14:36:47

Liz46 I've been to the Gambia many times and can't agree with it "being so awful". The sea is a disappointment admittedly but the men folk are ok - just say "no thank you" and they leave you alone. There are lots of old British women who go over there for young men and it is they who have made the men think we are all after one thing. Seeing some of the ancient old crocks with young boys in tow is stomach churning but its only the same as young girls trotting after wrinkled old men in the Western World.

Good luck to them

I think the fact he says he was raised by his grandmother says a lot. Still as long as they are happy does it really matter.

I honestly don't know how anyone could. He's the equivalent to a grandson as far as I'm concerned and it's tantamount to abuse.

yggdrasil gringrin There is life in us old gals yet.

Elegran Thu 17-Jan-19 08:42:36

From the photographs it looks as though his hair has gone grey since the wedding two years ago (but not his beard)

It said that SHE was the one who had just come out of a relationship with a 77-year-old.

yggdrasil Thu 17-Jan-19 08:40:00

Grannybags I don't think a 19 year old would be experienced enough for me.....wink

But it might be fun to teach him..... grin

I don’t think I ever went out with anyone as young as 19. Always preferred older men!

Liz46 Thu 17-Jan-19 08:06:56

I was shocked when we went on holiday to The Gambia. There were a lot of British female pensioners wrapped round young Gambian men. It seems normal for the woman to buy a house in Gambia and the young man's family move in to look after it while she is back in England! We encountered it over and over again.

Because the rooms in the hotel were so awful, we kept paying more and upgrading and ended up in the most expensive bungalow in the hotel grounds. I was quietly sitting outside with a cup of tea and a book when a young guard came up to me and said suggestively 'are you alone?'.

It's a shame because there is no time difference and the flight is only five hours so we would spend much of the winter there if it wasn't so awful.

Despite the huge age gap they look genuinely happy and been together for two years!

They're both American, so no marrying for visa, etc.

Marriage

NannyJan53 Thu 17-Jan-19 06:43:46

At 65 I am far too young smile

I read that they met at her son's funeral.

Bellanonna Wed 16-Jan-19 22:42:10

In fact I thought it was a double entendre along the lines of being catty - miaow (more or less)

BradfordLass72 Wed 16-Jan-19 22:33:33

or even "moi?"

Blimey! proof read woman, proof read!

PECS Wed 16-Jan-19 22:33:29

I gather they met at a funeral....

BradfordLass72 Wed 16-Jan-19 22:32:40

I've just looked at the Daily Mail's pictures and they look happy enough, so why not?

Mind you, I wouldn't trust a woman with eyes like that.

Judgemental? Maoi?

Squiffy Wed 16-Jan-19 22:21:56

I think he misheard her. She asked, “Will you carry me?” not “Will you marry me?” wink

harrigran Wed 16-Jan-19 22:18:04

I am 72 but it is not me either, I would never fall for that.

Bellanonna Wed 16-Jan-19 22:15:37

Two years apparently Jalima. Seems he likes older women though he’s gone for a “younger” one this time .

Jalima1108 Wed 16-Jan-19 22:14:20

Is this the American couple who met at a Chuck E Cheese birthday party?
I think they have been married for a while.

Who said that romance is dead?

Charleygirl5 Wed 16-Jan-19 22:08:15

NanKate I agree, that has to be the motive.

Bellanonna Wed 16-Jan-19 22:07:03

This was last year. He had just ended a relationship with a 77 year old woman. Her grandson is older than her husband!

aggie Wed 16-Jan-19 21:54:41

I am a wee bitty older , but as far as I can remember I was kind of rusted up in the errrrrrrrrrrrrr mmmmmmmm marriage department

NanKate Wed 16-Jan-19 21:52:04

She must have money - the daft bat ?He will be asking her to buy him a house next and new clothes.
