Running slow?

Is it just me or is Gransnet running very slowly this evening? It's taking 5 seconds for a new page to display and about 15 seconds to add a post.

Soooo slooow....! It's driving me crazy. I might have to go and do some housework instead. Second thoughts - it can't possibly be that bad!

Elegran Mon 14-Jan-19 14:29:21

Just a thought, but I have just had a Windows update. That usually changes some of my settings. I have looked at all of them I could, and I can't see anything that might cause it. I have cleared my temporary internet files, old bookmarks and some other things that could be clogging up the system, but if everyone is experiencing the same thing, it can't be that.

Very bad now. Are the techies working today?

Auntieflo Mon 14-Jan-19 14:20:37

It’s still like wading through treacle!

LullyDully Mon 14-Jan-19 14:16:01

The speed was fast this morning but has gone off now.

Doodle Mon 14-Jan-19 14:15:17

Mines so slow I thought it had stopped completely. Glad to know it’s not my new iPad and that other sites are ok. Come on GN get some more techies on it before we all fall asleep waiting........or go back to writing letters, or telex, ? we might have to start sending telegrams. ? pony express even

Gosh, GN today is just like the old days of dial-up internet!

BlueBelle Mon 14-Jan-19 13:35:09

Slower than ever for me today

Elegran Mon 14-Jan-19 13:15:27

It seems to be worse when more people are connecting to it. That sounds as though the server they are using is having difficulties coping with high traffic. As it happened suddenly, it must be a fault, not just increasing workload.

Parsley3 Mon 14-Jan-19 13:12:20

Oh yes! I thought it was something to do with my Wi-fi. It was slow yesterday too.

Jalima1108 Mon 14-Jan-19 13:10:30

I'm off to knit myself a blanket for yoga while I wait

Jane10 Mon 14-Jan-19 13:08:42

It's awful here. Very frustrating to an impatient soul like me.

M0nica Mon 14-Jan-19 12:59:25

Yes, this morning it was OK, but now it is definitely getting slower and s l o w e r.

FlexibleFriend Mon 14-Jan-19 12:57:21

It's getting slower and s l o w e r.

tanith Mon 14-Jan-19 12:55:48

So annoying I’m off too ?

Squiffy Mon 14-Jan-19 12:51:11

I’m thinking the same as you Charley! I might actually get some of my To Do list done today! grin

Fennel Mon 14-Jan-19 12:17:57

Me as well kathsue.

kathsue Mon 14-Jan-19 12:02:51

Same problem here. I was just about to post about it when I saw this thread.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Jan-19 12:01:24

I have returned 2 hours later and no improvement. It may help me - I may get things done in this house for a change instead of gossiping online.

Elegran Mon 14-Jan-19 11:58:11

Sixtyfive posts (and more being added all the time) from people concerned about the slowness.

I was about to contact GNHQ to ask whether they had had a "denial of service" attack, but I see that they are looking into it so I shall wait for a while.

What is interesting, if you watch the little box with "what is happening so far," in it, is the number of different files being downloaded, some of them from sites you wouldn't have thought of. However most of the time it just says "Waiting for ransnet.com"

Gagagran Mon 14-Jan-19 10:57:59

Same problem for me on PC - very slow yesterday and still not very speedy this morning. Have you paid tech team GNHQ or are they all on go slow?

NanaMacGeek Mon 14-Jan-19 10:48:41

It was OK late last night, now it is slow again - that should tell GN techies something! Are the complaints all from the UK?

Greyduster Mon 14-Jan-19 10:36:00

Same again today.
