Oven cleaning

Just done mine and all I use is Fairy liquid and a wire scourer. Wipe off with soft damp cloth and all clean once again.
The annoying thing for me is the oven door, two glass panels with a gap between and you can bet there will be something spilt that runs down between those panels. Have to unscrew the inside one to clean either. The oven is a stay clean one so it's really only a case of wiping the base - I keep a roasting tin in there to catch any spills.

Oven Pride for me to. No elbow grease required, no smell and almost a pleasure to use. smile

Why is it that the oven cleaners you buy are horribly toxic, smell awful, it takes hours of work and is still not clean, yet the guy you pay to do it does it without using harsh chemicals and does two ovens in an hour?

There is a mention in "The Sluts Charter" (which I referred to in post before Christmas) that relates to ovens! wink

Oven Pride here too

framilode I couldn’t use an oven that had been cleaned out with ammonia! I have a phobia about chemicals ..I’d be thinking that the food tasted of it? The oven man I use does not use chemicals just elbow grease.

What is oven cleaning and why does it have to be done?

I always just wipe the oven down after use. It has self cleaning sides and top, as do most cookers these days. I haven't cleaned an oven or had one cleaned for decades.

Ammonia. Everything mobile in a bin bag outside overnight. All the burnt on stuff just wipes off in the morning. A bowl of ammonia in the oven overnight. Same again.

I was going to get an oven cleaning service in as a birthday present for Mr P (!) But they didn't cover our area.

Mr P swears by Oven Pride.

Oven cleaning man for me?

Mapleleaf Wed 09-Jan-19 17:23:01

Yes, Blinko is right and I think you’ll find it under the house and home forum. I’ve got the Lakeland oven cleaner which is good.

Blinko Wed 09-Jan-19 09:50:00

There's a long thread somewhere about this very topic. Might be worth digging it out as it contains useful info. Oven Pride every time, I say.

KatyK Wed 09-Jan-19 09:46:58

Try Oven Pride. It's very good in my opinion.

What’s best to clean oven? Just had a quote from oven cleaning man, declined to pay that much. Get the elbow grease gong?
