Herbie9 that was heartbreaking. RIP James. Gone too soon.

Urmstongran Tue 01-Jan-19 19:16:03

My mum, who died at the beginning of March - last year. It was sad to think that I now have to say ‘last year’.

Magicmaggie Tue 01-Jan-19 18:16:12

My lovely mum-in-law, who died peacefully in June in the hospice where she was a volunteer for 20 years.

Herbie9 Tue 01-Jan-19 17:38:08

Our beautiful gs who was so brave with all his suffering. Such a sweet, innocent child - we had the best of him. Happy memories are always in our hearts. RIP James.

You have lost a lot of people Kathsue sorry to hear that.

My losses leave me with different feelings. My sister's death was almost a release as she had one of those illnesses which are very debilitating. My brother was killed in a car accident aged 19, that was very hard to cope with. My parents both died of cancer but I sort of expected my parents to die before me so can accept that. I can accept the death of my brother who did many things he should have know better and not done. He caused his own death by reckless driving. The one I will always struggle with is the death of my son for no reason, no explanation and no warning. His death eclipses everything else including all the miscarriages and a still birth. How is a parent supposed to cope with that?

What a lovely thread. It's so nice to have a place to remember my dear departed family and friend.
I'll always remember my daughter who was so lively and popular until her mental health failed and she took her own life, my husband who was devastated by her death and died shortly after. My Father who died at 89 after a chronic illness and my best friend Dot who could always cheer me up when I was feeling down.
I miss them all in different ways.

Not a relation but a dear 99yr old that I used to visit regularly.
There were two sisters that I used to visit - the 99yr old with severe dementia and her 90yr old 'carer' sister. Who died first? - Yes the younger one.
The older one was never aware her sister had gone - then eventually she deteriorated over Christmas and her last night on earth was the evening of New Years Day a couple of years ago. I was with her until gone 11pm and she died peaceful about 1am on 2nd Jan.
Still miss them both!

Beautiful yet so very sad posts about some obviously wonderful people.I’ve lost very dear relatives who I miss greatly. My mention here goes to my best friend from age 5 who lived in the same street. She was a year older than me and we were inseparable. From the ages of 7 & 8 after collecting bric-a- brac from neighbours,we held an annual sale of work to raise money for a local charity At age 12, I came home from school to find police cars outside my friends house. I opened the door of my house & I could tell immediately something was wrong. My mother gently told me my friend was crossing the road after school and the driver of a speeding car knocked her down and she had died in hospital from a severe head injury. To this day I still miss her and will always remember her laugh, her beautiful smile and her capacity to care for those less fortunate.

My dotty sister who died on 4th July after a short illness, a brain tumour that she told nobody about.
Still devastated

It is heartbreaking to read of the losses people have suffered, my sympathy to you all. We have lost two friends and a dearly loved family member this year - difficult to believe that we won't see them again.

Heartfelt sympathy and understanding to you all.

Only just seen this thread but was already in tears having found something wonderful DS wrote in Facebook in 2013. He had so much to deal with but he got through it all one way or another. It is only since his death in 2017 that we found out how many people he had helped when they were in trouble. He thought he was worldly wise but in some ways was as innocent as a child which is why someone took advantage of him and caused him so much pain. We miss him desperately and his children too. If we could only see them it would be a little comfort, probably to them too.

To all who no longer have the warmth, companionship and friendship of those who have gone before. flowersflowersflowers
In the fullness of time, bright memories will beget sunnier days.

My beloved elder daughter Catherine, who filled my world with love and joy.

So true Maw you will remember Paw with laughter as well as sadness.
It's good to have the support of people on here, its not always easy to talk to friends or family. I hope everyone who is sad finds peace in 2019.

My mum who died 11 years ago this month. I miss her very much . She too was taken by the cruel disease that is dementia. Love and hugs to all on here.

Life is for living - not what predictive text seems to think!

MawBroon Tue 01-Jan-19 12:10:03

Feeling like Absent and Bluebelle although the pain is still very acute I cannot allow myself to wallow in it as it changes nothing.
Remembering is constant but life is for life bing and love never dies.

Grannybags Tue 01-Jan-19 11:58:24

I echo absent and Bluebell

GreenGran78 Tue 01-Jan-19 11:36:03

I have attended three funerals in the last few weeks. The price of getting older is the pain of losing our friends and family. I recently posted about sending a Christmas card to a dying friend. She is still hanging on, and still smiling serenely through her pain. God bless her, and please take her soon.
Kind thoughts to all of you who have also suffered the loss of loved ones, whether recently or not. As long as someone is remembered with love they are never truly gone.

grandmaz Tue 01-Jan-19 10:56:08

Here I am blubbering already, reading all these heartfelt posts...I too lost a very dear old friend unexpectedly last year and he will always be in my heart and in the many happy memories I have of our friendship. It's hard though, isn't it...that transition into the first New Year without them. New Year hugs to all here who are remembering someone dear. flowers

Such a terribly sad post. It moves me to tears and makes me so grateful for the people I love who are still around. The beginning of a new year always frightens me a little, just hoping that things are still stable for everyone I care about this time next year.
