Bag search

My bag's been searched numerous times in London, even in museums etc. and men's bags are searched as well - no body searches for anyone though (so far anyway ?)
The worst one now is no bags are allowed at all at certain concerts - my friend took hers to the Rolling Stones and had to hand it over for the duration - caused mayhem apparently because hundreds of people had not seen the warning when they booked online.

That's what I was going to say Suesocks, it would be for alcohol.
We go to theatres in Manchester often and security only ever look in handbags.

Aha! so nothing to do with security....just want to make sure they have higher bar sales.

I've had my bag searched at the theatre in Eastbourne, there was a notice stating that bag searches would take place. No searches of men. This was at a sixties music concert so mainly people of a "certain age"! Bit surprised about the search to be honest as we've been going to all 3 Eastbourne theatres for years and never been searched before.
When I asked what they were looking for they told me alcohol!

Maybe they had had a tip-off.

Do they assume more women are terrorists than men?

That's not right. Even if random searches had been made on the males it would have been something.

My family went to the theatre at the weekend to see the pantomime. Security at the entrance searched all the ladies’ handbags, but no search was made of the men, most of whom had coats with large pockets, etc. Is it assumed that only women would carry something suspicious into the theatre?
