They are not happy bunnies are they?

Ilovecheese Thu 27-Dec-18 09:52:38

EllanVannin Well, except the war when we chopped the King's head off! And no, I'm not suggesting we do the same again!

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 09:54:31

The anti royals want Corbyn and the present Mrs Corbyn ?

Bigred18 Thu 27-Dec-18 09:55:37

To me Kate looks very unwell and much too thin. No need for her to be worn out with household help. She is almost anorexic and looks so much older than Meghan.

The Royal family is an unending soap opera. We love soaps and they depend on feuds and rifts and romances and hatching, matching and despatching. The Royal family provides all that!

The peace and goodwill to all men message at Christmas soon gets forgotten by some, doesn't it?
Merry Christmas!

Ellan the English Civil War was because of the monarchy.

As always though, it’s what replaces them that’s the tricky thing to get right.

I don’t watch the Queen’s speech, but now I want to in order to see the gold piano.

Jane10 Thu 27-Dec-18 10:01:39

The gold painted piano!

lemongrove Thu 27-Dec-18 10:04:13

tchgrin exactly so

lemongrove Thu 27-Dec-18 10:04:57

It sounds more Liberace than Royal.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 10:07:07

Why do some believe having money takes away all problems . Kate looked tired, three children on Christmas morning , then shooting off to church , she told someone in the crowd the children had been awake very early, does having staff mean a mother says ‘you see to the children opening their presents, I don’t wish to be disturbed ‘

I've never been a royalist but with the corruption in politics these days and the rise of fake news and the way social media encourages people to abuse each other, there's a lot to be said for a stable head of state who stays above politics.

William and Harry are 21st century people who are modernising the institution they are part of and doing it well. Why does anyone read or take notice of the gutter press? In the next 10 years or so we are going to lose the Queen and I fear that that is going to be a very destabilising moment.

EllanVannin Thu 27-Dec-18 10:19:29

What I should have said was that Royalty has far more stability in a country than a Republic even though there were wars between them. It was the militancy of the parliamentarians that the royals were fighting against. Which is probably why the Queen has no time for any of those who now sit in Parliament. MT wasn't liked by her nor is TM our present PM.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 10:21:50

Mrs May isn’t liked by the Queen , when was this announced ?

EllanVannin Thu 27-Dec-18 11:27:44

Annebach it was some time ago because it stuck firmly in my mind.
Cameron's wife was another who the Queen had a dislike for.

EllanVannin Thu 27-Dec-18 11:28:12

* Anniebach.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 11:32:01

EllanVannin, there has never been an announcement on the queens likes and dislikes of PM’s. You name three tories!

KatyK Thu 27-Dec-18 11:32:08

With apologies to those who do this and enjoy it, I have never understood why people leave their homes on Christmas morning to stand in the cold to watch a family they don't know, go to church confused I am not anti royal, I just don't get it.

Well said, Anniebach

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 11:34:46

Because they choose to?

KatyK Thu 27-Dec-18 11:45:09

Yes of course Annie each to their own, but some things I find hard to grasp. Just a comment really.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 11:54:41

KaryK, I wouldn’t do it, I wouldn’t camp out all night to see a wedding carriage pass by or stand for hours waiting for a car to pass, I am certainly not anti royal

KatyK Thu 27-Dec-18 11:59:42

No me neither Annie but I'm sure those that do, love it. When I was younger my mum used to take us to stand in the crowds if the royals came to town. It was exciting.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 11:59:54

Sparklefizz. thank you. We know Kate has to employ a nannie, is it any different to putting a child into a nursery
when a mother goes to work. She may be very hands on with her children , I wouldn’t be surprised if she was.

Anniebach Thu 27-Dec-18 12:05:12

KatyK where I live there are often royal visits , I have never stood on a pavement to see one of them. At Sandringham this year someone in the crowd said x had spoken to her, it was the most exciting thing ever !

EllanVannin Thu 27-Dec-18 12:08:00

Yes, 3 Tories. Does that make the Queen a Republican ?
