Last Christmas........ A Happy Christmas ‘tail’

Last Christmas I could barely wait for Christmas Day to be over. Not that I don’t enjoy spending the day with family, but because on Boxing Day I was collecting my Rescue Dog.

I had waited 70 years to have a dog of my own and I was so excited, I had been unable to sleep for about a week. She is the most perfect dog and has totally changed my life.

Sometime later, a lady posted on Gransnet asking for advice about whether she was too old to adopt a dog. I commented on my experience and posted a photograph. I then received a pm from another Gransnetter, who told me that the dog had belonged to her daughter. We exchanged a few messages and she said how reassuring it was for her Grandsons, to know that the dog was being loved. I felt so happy that the family could have a little bit of comfort in their bereavement through the power of Gransnet.

Happy Christmas to you all.

Lovely to hear your story, I think as long as you can get around you are never too old to adopt a dog. We like the older ones that get overlooked because of their age. We lost our 15 years old greyhound in November and the other dog really misses her. We have promised him (and ourselves) that in the New Year we will be getting another greyhound from the rescue. The lady at the rescue where we have got our others from says she has one she thinks he will like!!!
Happy Christmas and New Year to you and your dog
