Mini that was brilliant and no doubt I shall watch it a few times this Christmas. Weren’t the women slim ? You hardly ever see anyone that size now. I think some of the well known dancers could give the Strictly crew a run for their money. There was only one clip missing IMO Donald O’Connor I think running at a wall and doing a sort of cartwheel on it.

Now to us strutting our stuff Rufus in fact I would have been 2 seventy years ago but could easily pass as 71 now ?. We could start off slowly with a slow shoe shuffle and gradually build up to you throwing me over your shoulder. My DH has given me a Pass Out for the evening so get on your glad rags. I will be the one in a purple velvet dress and a pair of flat dance shoes. ?

We could strut our stuff
Nan; I'm flattered by your invitation, but what stuff are we going to strut? 70 years ago I could have been that gent. in the jacket and tie tchgrin, but you'd not even arrived then and the intervening years have taken their toll. sad
Although, looking at all those clips today there was a dance called "The Original Stroll"; never heard of it! Could you teach me the steps? tchwink

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

Just found one of my favourite of Silvan Z on YouTube

Not sure if this will work as it doesn't show in blue but worth a try.

Fandabbydozy as the Krankies would say.

This is just my sort of music and dance. I suggest you go online and look up Sylvan Zingg who is a fabulous Swiss pianist and often accompanies this style of boogie woogie dancing.

Rufus do you fancy being my dance partner at the GN Virtual Christmas Party? We could strut our stuff.

I love watching old films or clips showing the ' old fashioned' way we communicated through dance .

Everybody always look happy, even during the war years and the popularity of simply engaging with others through dance whether it be hip hop, jive, ballroom , tea dances etc. from the local village hall to the wonderful dance halls I don't think will ever see a revival, no matter how the likes of Strictly Come Dancing may try.

I wish I could bop about like that !

Anniebach Fri 21-Dec-18 14:02:59

Good grief, did I realy leap about like that ? Not the over shoulder bit though

Thank you Rufus

janeainsworth Fri 21-Dec-18 13:58:34

MissAdventure Fri 21-Dec-18 13:21:49

Wow!! smile
That's brilliant. I love watching people dance, although I can't do more than the side to side step kind of dance.
