We have spoken tirelessly about the state of politics regarding female politicians and to be honest the lack of understanding by some who do not believe there is even an issue because of whom is at the heart of this debacle is on one hand quite surprising but on the other of no surprise because of partisan politics.
It is accepted that female MP's have been subjected to abuse of a particularly mysogynistic nature , vile , harmful threats especially on social media.
There have been many a debate in Parliament , many female/male MP's backing the female MP's who have fought tirelessly to raise the seriousness of this abuse / mysoginy /sexism etc. and there has been a will by Parliament to try and curb this problem.
Whether it be in the form of the recent Dame Laura Cox Report into bullying and harassment within Parliament or the words / reports / debates we see and hear from our MP's themselves it is not going to change if the fact the Leader of a political party can call another a ' Stupid Woman ' in Parliament and he is backed by his cohorts and followers.
Parliament under Bercow has been a disgrace as he has been at the forefront of patronising behaviour and insults whilst holding the position of Speaker. You only have to watch Parliament to see the evidence of his behaviour and playing to the camera.
If it is possible to take the partisan politics and whataboutery out of the equation and focus on what we should expect from politicians, especially Leaders of the parties , then it is unquestionable calling a fellow Minister a ' Stupid Woman' has no place in Parliament and if Parliamentary etiquette is allowed to go unchallenged so brazenly then what chance have the MP's who are raising the sexist behaviour in Parliament ever going to see a change.?
