Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

What a very strange reaction to the natural instincts of an expectant Mum. Why be so negative?... And as for role-play, that's exactly what she'll be doing for the rest of her life now, along with all the other Royals. I don't envy them their lack of privacy, and would certainly hate the scrutiny and often scathing criticism that their least foible attracts. Judge not, lest ye be judged...

Aquamarine- may I suggest that you start a new thread, as this one is a different topic. That way you will get some answers. Good luck .

My only grouse is that the woman is painfully thin so perhaps pregnancy will put a bit extra beef on her. Kate is also thin and I don't think either are role models in that respect as regards being pregnant and being so thin.
The only difference being that the Royals will obviously eat all the vitamin-packed meals whereas " ordinary " girls/women will be starving themselves to keep that same shape.

Good grief, this has brought out some nastiness and snide comments.
Another few pages of comments, and there’ll be a petition to have the latest female Royal exiled to Elba. Some real lack of Christmas cheer here.
Thank goodness for the more reasonable posts.
Just bear in mind, that none of us have ever met this woman, know only the snippets the rancorous, obsessive media choose to reveal to us, and really do not have to look at pictures and videos in order to fuel dislike.
In the few photos I’ve ever looked at, she appears charming and beautiful and happily in love with her husband and unborn child.
Maybe we should have some positive comments only threads to brighten the days up to Christmas?

It must be so difficult to go from the world she knew to her new life, in the old one everybody wanted her to act now they want her to be herself - I imagine she is being. If I had had this big a transition I would be clinging onto somebody and caressing the future. A bit like Grace Kelly I hope she doesn't feel stifled by it all.

I can't say I've noticed Meghan doing this really, but I seem to remember when I was pregnant (a long time ago!) I used to hold my bump.
I'm feeling increasingly sorry for her with all this tittle tattle about her.

An actress!
It sounds as if we've gone back 100 years to when it was frowned on as 'not quite nice'.
At least she worked.

Get over it, who are you to judge anyone?

Ngaio1 Wed 19-Dec-18 10:09:01

Whilst it may be a protective action the constant repetition makes me think she is still acting a part. She is so obvious with her gestures.

Yes, feeling where your unborn baby is is so lovely. I think in general Meghan is an actress, but there just one thing she's done that is great: she and Harry have publicly vowed not to drink alcohol while pregnant because they want to put the message out about FASD. So many people have this (mostly but not always) hidden disability that makes them do annoying and dificult things and end up lonely and deeply unhappy. If it's diagnosed, then they can live happy, fulfilled lives. But if it's treated as just someone being annoying or as being autistic, then they donm't get the help they need.

When my DS was about 9:he came home from school one day and said ‘Miss B is having a baby.’ I asked him how he knew. ‘Because she always has her hand resting on her tummy.’ ‘Oh, - any idea who the lucky father is?’ ‘Probably Mr C.’ ( PE teacher )
All this turned out to be true. But when DS had spotted the bump-stroking, Miss B could only have been less than a couple of months pregnant - no apparent bump. Just a lovely, maybe subconscious, gesture.

ruthiek - WHO CARES!?!

Nicenanny3 Wed 19-Dec-18 10:01:33

Perhaps she's so happy to be having a baby. I like her and Harry and wish them every happiness.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 10:00:40

Women do hug their baby bumps, but there is a difference in hugging the bump when the baby moves and walking on stage ar the British fashion awards in a tight dress , one arm across the top of the bump one arm across the bottom of the bump,

I agree with you & I also find her constantly brushing her bits of hair away very irritating & hanging on to her husband’s hand, something that Kate & William have never done. I wasn’t happy when she came on to the scene & I still feel the same. The problems with her father are awful. She should be careful if she is trying to change things. Diana did that & look what happened. I loved Diana. When she passed away in such terrible circumstances I was no longer a royalist apart from the Queen & Prince Phillip. I also greatly admire Princess Anne. I think Meghan’s dress sense is terrible, Teresa May also has terrible taste in clothes. Sad when they have all the designers at their fingertips. Diana was a wonderful model as is Kate. Watch that space...

Havent seen many photos at all of Meghan unfortunately, I cant comment I dont live in the UK and in this country they only bother about their own Royal Family.
Holding a bump doesnt bother me, whoever is doing the holding.

ajanela Wed 19-Dec-18 09:56:11

If this was the only critism of MM ok, but in view of all the horrific coverage it becomes bashing.

Yes, she is playing a part, the life she has married into means she has to. She is trying to support her husband who is the 2 nd most popular royal. So do him a favour and support his wife before they both leave the country. After what happened to his mother he won't stand for his wife being treated the same way.

Riverwalk Wed 19-Dec-18 09:54:20

I must say it looks very bitchy to see two threads, each with a red angry face emoji, about a young woman holding her pregnancy bump. And all grandmothers.

Reminds of those miserable women who tut tut when young mothers get on the bus with buggies.

EllanVannin Wed 19-Dec-18 09:54:09

Meghan obviously has an overwhelming love for this forthcoming baby. You can see it in her face.

It's so unfair that the poor woman is being treated in this way by the press and public when she's trying her very best to fit in and please everyone. Thank goodness that Harry has the experience of what happened with his mother to enable him to deal with everything.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:52:09

Press are hounding the woman, they print / play what they want you to see.

I had my last child at 36, much wanted and difficulty conceiving, I am pretty sure that I held onto my tummy for the whole 9 months.

She was put on a pedestal by the media as a breath of fresh air in the Royal Family, now they just want to knock her down.

I wish everyone could let her enjoy her pregnancy and the early years of her marriage.

manma2 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:51:29

Me too

catta5 Wed 19-Dec-18 09:50:59

After all she is a actress and used to being centre stage she has got what she wants Her best redemption is getting her husband off shooting seems so hypocritical of the princes to want to save wildlife in Africa and then enjoying shooting our own wildlife bet they are all for badger, boar, hare and deer culling

Worry about something worth worrying about if you must.
