Is it me or is anyone else fed up with seeing pictures of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex holding onto her bump, it has been constant since day1 of the announcement.now I am not averse to seeing pregnancy bumps , in fact it can be lovely, but I truly feel it’s almost as if she is acting all the time. It is starting to really grate on me , I wish someone would tell her to stop!!!

Not a Royalist, but feel sorry for Meghan, everyone seems to think they can have a pop at her.
She's a proud mum, why is she acting

sarahellenwhitney Wed 19-Dec-18 14:35:31

Readymeals.I wonder if Meghan now observes her life as a royal is all she thought it would be.? .Apart from Kate, and Camilla who know what the future holds for them what part do other 'wives' of Windsor play?

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 14:29:25

Thanks Annie.
So she hasn't broken any royal protocol with the clothes she wears then.
As you said, some find different things acceptable.
That shouldn't influence her wearing what she wants, though.

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 14:19:25

MissAdventure, nothing to do with rules. What some find acceptable others do not. Suppose we all have our own standards on what we find acceptable . I think the code of dress for the royal family is - black worn for mourning, bare shoulders not acceptable at official events in day time .

Reminds me when I was given a diamond pendant, thought it rather glam , a great Aunt said ‘ diamonds in daytime ? Never.

Maybe stop reading the Daily Fail and similar rubbish and then you won’t need to be bothered by such mundane trivia. ?

Bathsheba I watched part of the British Fashion Awards , I saw Megan walk onto the stage , one hand at bottom of the bump one hand at the top , the only commentry was the naming of the winner , I was quite capable of forming my own opinion of the bump clutching. Same with her wedding, the media praised her over and over, I formed my own opinion then .

sarahellenwhitney Wed 19-Dec-18 14:09:00

MOnica Not one for giving out compliments then ? grin
Quote ' triple disadvantage of being foreign, an actor , of mixed race'

Anniebach how do you reach your opinions without anything in the media? A genuine question. Have you seen MM, then, in real life? Or is any opinion you have of her based on photo's you've seen of her? Because they are published by the media and, as others have said, the media are very clever at publishing the one photo, out of hundreds, that will present the subject the way they want them to be shown. And that way, the opinions the media are subliminally promoting are formed by people viewing the photo's.

True ReadyMeals and actresses enjoy publicity

dorsetpennt Wed 19-Dec-18 14:01:21

Blimey poor girl does what a lot of expectant mothers do , I used to rest both hands on top of my bumps. It felt cosy and safe. I quite missed it when it was gone. No one ever said an adverse comment or gave me an unpleasant look because of it. Why not be more understanding instead of critical .

lemongrove Wed 19-Dec-18 14:01:03

What does being perfect have to do with it? The question is why she does the double hold on her pregant tum all the time in public. That’s all. It’s drawing attention to it and unnecessary. It’s become something that ‘celebs’ do now when pregnant and spotting a photographer.

ReadyMeals Wed 19-Dec-18 13:57:21

I don't think it particularly matters. She's never going to be queen, so apart from standing on the balcony at birthdays and weddings her only role will be charity patronages. Those charities that don't like her showbiz ways can ask for someone else. But most charities will enjoy the publicity. The more Meghan stands out, the more publicity she will attract.

mabon1 Wed 19-Dec-18 13:55:47

I think you are nasty passing remarks about The Duchess of Sussex. I guess you are just perfect.

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 13:55:29

I would hope any woman in this day and age would wear exactly what they want.
Its a sorry state of affairs if not.
I'm not sure what royal protocol is.
Is there a list of rules somewhere which people have access to?

Anniebach Wed 19-Dec-18 13:54:19

Bathsheba unfair, I and am I sure other posters reach their opinions without anything in the media .

GabriellaG54 Wed 19-Dec-18 13:52:04

THAT dress yesterday...she looked as if she was nipping out to the corner shop.
Far too tight, showing her bare back when on a semi-official visit and the material straining at the seams everywhere.
As others have said, cradling her 'bump' at every opportunity, is unacceptable and not the kind of actions I expect a 'Duchess' to engage in.
IMO, I think she sends out subliminal messages via her clothes, hair and actions. She flaunts her hold over Harry by doing and wearing exactly what she wants, whether it reflects Royal protocol or not...more often the latter.

Bathsheba Wed 19-Dec-18 13:51:44

God almighty, will you all listen to yourselves! Is there a single one amongst those criticising her who actually knows Meghan Markle? Or has even met her? No? Didn't think so.
And yet posters "find her quite annoying" and claim "she thinks this is how a pregnant woman should act" (er, you know this how?)
And, good grief, one poster is even irritated to see her "hanging onto her husband's hand". What on earth??? There is currently a thread on GN about couples holding hands, with dozens of responders happily telling how they have always been hand holders. Perfectly normal I'd say.
The media love people like you - just blindly following where they lead you grin

lemongrove Wed 19-Dec-18 13:46:50

ReadyMeals I was going to post much the same as you did, so now I don’t have to.tchsmile
I have never, ever held my pregnant bump in that two handed way, just rested a hand on it.In fact she was doing this pose before there was much bump at all.
I think it’s part acting and part saying ‘be nice to me.’
Not that it bothers me at all.

lilihu Wed 19-Dec-18 13:13:09

Goodness LadyGracie, what did she say to you?

loopyloo Wed 19-Dec-18 13:01:44

I am just glad to have a distraction from Brexit!

LadyGracie Wed 19-Dec-18 12:59:54

I agree, she is over the top, I find her quite annoying, smug overload

MissAdventure Wed 19-Dec-18 12:39:51

Plenty of pictures of Kate doing the exact same thing, Google shows.

NanaandGrampy Wed 19-Dec-18 12:37:02

Poor woman.

Millions of women the world over do exactly the same thing but without the worlds media firmly focussed on their every breath it doesn't make the news.

I'm not offended, hurt, fed up or annoyed by her actions .- she's just being a pregnant woman.

TheMaggiejane1 Wed 19-Dec-18 12:34:45

She’s an actress and she thinks this is how pregnant women should act. I too find it annoying.

Kerenhappuch Wed 19-Dec-18 12:27:05

The media seem obsessed by Meghan's bump, I even saw a story online headlined 'Meghan and her bump visit X'.

I'm glad I didn't have to dress up and go and open things and give speeches when I was pregnant, I felt dreadfully sick all day for the first 5 months!
